GoFrogs: TCU Seventh After Second Round in Hawaii

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – TCU’s men’s golf team shot a 4-under 284 to end round two of the Amer Ari Invitational in a tie for seventh place.
Sophomore Stefano Mazzoli, who shot a 7-under 65 in the first round on Thursday, shot a 2-over 74 in the second round on Friday. Mazzoli is tied for 19th place entering Saturday’s final round at 5-under 139.
The Frogs are 24 shots behind the leader, No. 7 USC, with an 11-under 565. All six of the teams ahead of TCU are ranked nationally in the top 28. The Frogs are going against some of the nation’s best teams as eight of the tournament's 21 teams are currently ranked in the top 25 of the GolfStat.com rankings. Thirteen of the 21 teams, including TCU, were in last season's NCAA Championships field.
TCU Notables
- Senior Chelso Barrett recorded his second eagle of the tournament with one on the par-5 18th hole. He carded an eagle on the par-5 second hole in the first round on Thursday. He is tied for 51st at even par after a 1-over 73 on Friday.
- Sophomore Pierre Mazier will enter the final round in a tie for 26th place after shooting a 3-under 69, which tied a career best for a single round.
- Senior Giulio Castagnara had seven birdies, the most of any Horned Frog on Friday, to shoot a 1-under 71. He ended round two in a tie for 61st place.
- Sophomore Turner MacLean is among the top 70, tied for 68th place at 1-under 71.
