GoFrogs: Lodolo’s Career Night Leads TCU To Win

Final Stats

LUBBOCK – A career-high eight innings on the mound from Nick Lodolo led No. 2 TCU to a 4-1 victory over No. 6 Texas Tech on Friday night at Rip Griffin Park.

The Rundown
Lodolo (5-1) was brilliant through eight innings, limiting the Red Raiders to just seven base runners in the game. He was aided by a pair of double plays and finished the game allowing just four hits and striking out four while walking three (one intentionally). Durbin Feltman set the side down in order to pick up his career-best 10th save of the season.

A two-out hit batter in the first turned into TCU’s first run of the game. Evan Skoug took the pitch off the shoulder and moved to second on wild pitch. A Luken Baker base hit made it 1-0 in favor of the Frogs.

TCU’s lead grew to two in the fourth. Michael Landestoy doubled and ultimately scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Ryan Merrill.

Texas Tech’s lone threat of the game came in the fourth when it loaded the bases with nobody out. Hunter Hargrove’s sacrifice fly cut the lead in half, 2-1. After an intentional walk re-loaded the bases, but Lodolo got a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning with the lead intact.

The Frogs pushed their lead to three runs with a two-spot in the seventh. Cam Warner singled and move to third on a Skoug base hit. A wild pitch allowed Warner to score and Skoug scored on a Watson sacrifice fly to make it 4-1.
