Go Frogs: Johnson Breaks Heptathlon School Record in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. –
Jill Johnson broke the heptathlon school record and six Horned Frogs advanced to their respective event finals on Day Two of the Big 12 Outdoor Championships at the Josh Jacob Track Complex.

In just her first year competing in the heptathlon, Johnson tallied 5,203 points to set the school record and claimed sixth on the podium.

Johnson, who was in sixth heading into the final day, started with a personal-best 5.61m (18' 5.0") in the long jump. She also recorded personal-bests in the javelin (30.55m) and smashed her 800m record (2:26.03) to finish sixth overall.

Clinton Muunga placed second in the 100m with a personal-best time of 10.22 to automatically qualify for the 100m finals. On the women's side, Iyana Gray's time of 11.14 (3.4w) was good for sixth to advance.

Gray also advanced to the 200m finals, clocking a 22.95 (2.0w) to finish seventh in the prelims.

In the 400m, Simbarashe Maketa clocked a huge personal-best time of 45.22 to finish fifth and advance to the 400m finals. On the women's side, Samarra Monrroy clocked a personal-best of 53.53 to qualify.

Jasmin Muhammad-Graham shined in the women's 800m prelims, running an outdoor personal-best of 2:07 to finish fifth overall and advance to Sunday's finals.

Emma Seetoo jumped a personal-best 6.18m (20' 3.50") in the long jump to finish sixth and garner her first career Big 12 podium finish. In the women's pole vault, Quinn Calhoun continued her stellar first season at TCU and placed sixth with her height of 3.90m (12' 9.50").

Elise Dobson took ninth overall in the heptathlon with her personal-best 5,037 points, the third-best mark in program history. In the women's shot put, Samantha Callaway threw a huge personal-best of 14.54m (47' 8.50") to move up to seventh on TCU's all-time outdoor records list.
