Reynolds’ 17 points leads comeback effort

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – No. 9 seed TCU fought back on multiple occasions, but a slow start set the tone for a 69-67 win by No. 16 Colorado in the first round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.
The Horned Frogs (16-16) missed their first 13 shots before Jace Posey hit the first of his season-high three 3-pointers at the 12:06 mark of the first half. TCU trailed 24-15 before ending the half on an 12-2 run to take a 27-26 lead at the break despite shooting 26.3 percent from the field.
The Buffalos (13-19) scored 11 straight points midway through the second half to lead 42-28 with 12:27 to play. The Frogs trailed 63-50 with 4:58 remaining before scoring 10 straight points, which included two 3-pointers by Noah Reynolds and one by Vasean Allette. TCU trailed 63-60 with 1:47 to play.
After trading buckets, TCU found itself down 65-63 with the ball and 33 seconds left. A quick three by Reynolds was off target. Colorado made its last four free throw attempts in the final 20 seconds to seal off any potential of a TCU comeback. The Frogs shot 53.6 percent in the second half.
For just the third time this season, TCU dropped a game it led in rebounding. The Frogs out-boarded the Buffalos 45-34, including a season-high 22 on the offensive end. Seven of Ernest Udeh's game-high 11 rebounds were offensive.
Another big difference in the game came at the free throw line where Colorado was 18-of-24 (75.0 percent) and TCU was 10-of-20 (50 percent).
Reynolds scored all of his 17 points in the second half. Trazarien White scored nine of his 13 points in the first half.
