GoFrogs: Horned Frogs face Jayhawks Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Kansas down by three, 5 seconds left in regulation, inbound it cross court to a big man on the perimeter. He should have been fouled. He held the ball for two seconds with a TCU defender in his face before passing it to Peterson. The big man should have been at the line, shooting two, instead of Posey with the sloppy foul on the shooting Peterson for three free throws.

We should have won that one for sure. Consider Kansas has a 23 game home winning streak and have only lost 19 home games since Big 12 started in 1997. 345 wins.

Unlike football, basketball is not an emotional game.

Having talented players is great. Having "athletic" players is great. Having players who play hard with relentless effort is great.

But ultimately, basketball is a game that has to be played with confidence, poise, discipline, and intelligence.
Why does TCU so often have players who lack those key characteristics?

I've been wondering about that for years.

We lost that game in the most Jamie Dixon way possible.
Players have to make plays. Handle the moment. Dixon didn't make bonehead passes, miss free throws. Posey's foul on Peterson on a last-second three-point shot was dumb and brutal. Clock management. I question how they diagramed inbounds passes under pressure but in the end the players failed to execute and handle the pressure, failed how to protect that lead. The players blew that. IMO

If Harding is a 60% FT shooter, then he has to be on the bench in the final minutes. Horrible misses down the stretch. This will bite us again if he can’t fix that.

I think the worst collapse I have ever seen. The three missed front ends of 1 and 1’s, which is the same as three turnovers. And yet still had a three point lead and the ball with 6 seconds left, so the game still well in hand. But the turnover on the inbounds pass and then the foolish foul on Posey - two gifts to Kansas for the win. Peterson most likely misses that shot with Posey simply making it uncomfortable. The turnover - the ball was poked out of bounds and there wasn’t a good camera view to confirm that Punch’s hand was the last to touch it, But he maybe could have been more aggressive shielding that defender from getting a hand in.

Stop blaming Dixon. We have a team that should have won last night in Kansas, because of Dixon’s good hard work reviving this program.

I despise 1 and 1’s; are nonsensical to me. When missing the first it acts as a penalty on the fouled team. Fouls should be two free throws.

I dont know if this is actually true but it seems that Dixon has a habit of taking the air out of the ball every time he has a lead and inevitably games get close. I would rather lose playing full speed, at least until 90 seconds to go, than trying to work the shot clock at the three minute mark.

It is on Dixon tho to try to get the ball in Punch's hand with 6 secs left in that spot of the floor. Even if he catches it he is the worst ft shooter on the team. He should be on the bench or the last option in that situation, not the one running to the ball for the catch in the corner.

And the Posey foul - Peterson was not shooting. Posey fouled him and then Peterson brought the ball up to start a shooting motion to get that damn call. It should have been a non-shooting foul, two free throws; the way they allow that leniency of shooting motion after the foul is criminal - it is now normal and nobody questions that BS anymore.

The irony there is, Harding was inbounding the ball because he had just missed the front end of two 1&1’s and they didn’t want him shooting another free throw.

If we had a middle school press offense installed, we wouldn't have had an issue getting the ball inbounds with 6.1 seconds left.

You have to have variations of press offenses. Sometimes it is necessary to help a player get open on an inbounds pass rather than having the player try to get open on their own.

Jamie is a great coach no doubt, but part of last night is on poor situational coaching.
