GoFrogs: Horned Frogs Down UAPB, 32-7, In Season-Opener
FORT WORTH – TCU quarterback Max Duggan accounted for a pair of touchdowns, wide receiver TreVontae Hights set new career-highs in both catches (8) and receiving yards (108), and kicker Jonathan Song was a perfect 5-for-5 on field-goal attempts en route to leading the TCU Horned Frogs to a 39-7 season-opening win over Arkansas at Pine Bluff Saturday evening at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

TCU won its sixth consecutive season opener and 18th straight home opening contest, while improving to 15-4 overall in season openers under head coach Gary Patterson.

UAPB received the game's opening kickoff and drove the field 35 yards before Ar'Darius Washington registered his first career interception with 11:18 to play in the first quarter. The Horned Frogs would need just 3:25 to post its first points of the 2019 season – a 24-yard field goal from Song – to put TCU on top 3-0 at the 7:53 mark of the first quarter.

TCU's first touchdown of the season came on quarterback Max Duggan's first career rushing TD when he capped off an 11-play, 58-yard drive with a 1-yard scoring run. Song's PAT was good and TCU pushed its lead to 10-0 with 59 seconds left to play in the first quarter.

Song would close out the first half with a pair of field goals, first connecting on a 36-yarder with 3:40 left in the second quarter to put the Horned Frogs up 13-0, and then hitting a 19-yarder with no time on the clock. TCU would take a 16-0 lead into the break, marking the first time the Horned Frogs held an opponent scoreless in a first half since Oct. 21, 2017 (vs. Kansas, 24-0).

Song set a new single-game career-high with his fourth field goal of the game, putting TCU up 19-0 after connecting on a 34-yarder with 13:46 left to play in the third quarter. He tacked onto that career-high total with his fifth field goal of the evening, which came at the 8:22 mark of the third quarter, this time kicking it from 38 yards out to push TCU's lead to 22-0. Song became the first TCU kicker since 2012 to successfully convert on at least five field goals in a single game (Jaden Oberkrom, 6-for-6 vs. Texas Tech).

UAPB would put up its first points of the night with a 1-yard run from Keshawn Williams at the 1:31 mark in the third quarter. The Golden Lions managed to score on just two plays that covered 37 yards in 31 seconds following a muffed punt from the Horned Frogs.

TCU would counter on the very next drive as Duggan tossed his first career TD pass, hitting Jalen Reagor from 37 yards out to cap off a five-play, 62-yard drive that took just 1:18 off the clock. This pushed TCU's lead to 29-7 with seven seconds left to play in the third quarter.

TCU's Griffin Kell put the Frogs up 32-7 following a 35-yard field goal with 6:46 left to play in the game. Kell's first field goal of the game came after TCU's seven-play, 35-yard drive, and it would tie the all-time school team record for most field goals in a single game (6, vs. Texas Tech, Oct. 20, 2012).

The Horned Frogs closed out their scoring with 48 seconds left in the contest on an 8-yard rushing touchdown from Darwin Barlow, which ended an 8-play, 60-yard drive. Griffin's PAT was good to put TCU up 39-7.

Duggan led TCU's quarterback duo connecting on 16 of his 23 passes for 165 yards and the one touchdown toss. Alex Delton led all runners on the evening totaling 67 yards on seven attempts. Sewo Olonilua rushed seven times for 50 yards on the evening.

Hights led all receivers with his 108-yard effort, while Reagor hauled in five passes for 71 yards and the lone receiving score.

Defensively, the Frogs were led by Garret Wallow's career-high 13 total tackles, with eight of those on the solo end. He tallied 3.5 tackles for loss and had a sack in the ballgame.
