FORT WORTH – TCU ended up on the wrong end of a game that had 13 ties and 15 lead changes in an 83-74 loss to Vanderbilt Sunday afternoon at Dickies Arena.
The Horned Frogs (5-4) led the majority of the first half but went into halftime trailing 41-38 after a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from the Commadores' Tyler Nickel.
Freshman David Punch, who finished with a career-best 11 points, put the Frogs up 54-53 with 12:10 to play a dunk. It was two of TCU's 21 fastbreak points in the game. Two possessions later, Punch threw down another dunk give the Frogs a 56-55 lead with just over 10 minutes to play. That was TCU's final lead of the game as the Frogs led for just two minutes in the second period.
TCU turned the ball over a season-high 18 times and was 14-of-26 (53.8 percent) from the free throw line. The Frogs stayed in the game with a season-best 53.8 percent shooting from three.
Brendan Wenzel led TCU with 3-of-3 shooting from deep and was one of four Frogs with 11 points. Ernest Udeh Jr. and Trazarien White also finished with 11 points. White was 2-of-2 from 3-point range.
Vanderbilt (9-1) was led by Jason Edwards' 30 points. The Commadores were 27-of-33 (81.8 percent) from the free throw line.
Following a week of finals, the Horned Frogs will return to action on Monday, Dec. 16 as they host South Alabama at 7 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+.

- Freshman David Punch had a career-high 11 points and tied a career-high with seven rebounds. He was 5-of-8 from the field, a career-high for makes.
- Punch made his first-career 3-pointer in the second half.
- Frankie Collins led TCU in assists for the fifth time this season with a season-high seven.
- Ernest Udeh Jr. reached double digits in points for the third time this season with 11. He was 5-of-8 from the field, which tied a career-high for makes.
- Trazarien White scored in double figures for the third-straight game and sixth time this season with 11 points.
- Brendan Wenzel was 3-of-3 from 3-point range and finished with 11 points. It was the second-straight game and fourth time this season he made at least three 3-pointers in a game.
- TCU was without redshirt freshman guard, Jace Posey, who had an ankle injury.
