GoFrogs: Frogs Add 2020 Texas Player of the Year Peavy
FORT WORTH – TCU men's basketball has added 2020 TABC Class 6A Player of the Year and Texas Tech transfer Micah Peavy.
As a freshman at Texas Tech last season, Peavy averaged 5.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists while making 25 starts. The 6-7 guard had a season-high 14 points in his collegiate debut against Northwestern State and reached a season-high seven rebounds two times. Peavy shot 45.9 percent from the field and scored 10 or more points five times.
Peavy starred as a four-star prospect at Duncanville High School and averaged 19 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a senior and was named to the Jordan Brand Classic roster along with being named the state's player of the year. That same year, current TCU freshman Mike Miles was the TABC Class 5A Player of the Year. At the end of his senior season, Peavy was ranked as the 32nd best player in the nation according to ESPN and 34th by Rivals.
As a junior, the Cibolo, Texas native averaged 16 points and 6.6 rebounds per game and led Duncanville to the 2019 Class 6A State Championship. His father, David, is the coach at Duncanville and was recently named the 2020-21 MaxPreps National Coach of the Year.
Peavy joins a TCU incoming class that includes guard Damion Baugh, center Souleymane Doumbia, guard Maxwell Evans and guard Shahada Wells.
