GoFrogs: Duo to Compete in Local Pro Circuit Event

FORT WORTH, Texas – Two members of the TCU women’s tennis team are set to compete in the qualifying and main draw of the 2018 Fort Worth Pro Tennis Classic, a $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit Event, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the campus of TCU from July 29-Aug. 5.

The tournament, which has been a staple in the Fort Worth community for the last seven straight years, hosts athletes from around the world who will be competing for the prize money and valuable WTA Ranking points. Sophomore Aleksa Cveticanin will compete in the singles portion of the qualifying draw and will also pair up with Senior Marie Norris for a main draw wildcard in doubles.

“It is great to have an event like this on campus,” head coach Lee Taylor Walker said. “It gives our aspiring players exposure and experience with the top players in world and a look into how the best players operate. Aleksa had a strong showing in Australia at a big tournament there and she's looked in solid form the last few days in preparation. I am excited to see the girls compete over this next week.”

Admission to the Fort Worth Pro Tennis Classic is free during each day of the competition with action beginning at 9 a.m., on Sunday, July 29. Cveticanin will begin action on Sunday at 9 a.m., on court one against Amanda Vos of the United States. The main draw of doubles will be announced at a later date in the tournament.
