Final Stats

FORT WORTH, Texas - With one on and one out, down by a run in the ninth inning, Matt Curry unloaded with his 10th home run of the season to send the eighth-ranked TCU Horned Frogs to a 9-8 walk-off victory over UNLV. All nine of TCU's runs were scored via the home run ball.

Bryan Holaday battled through an 11-pitch at-bat and came up with a base hit to left field to start the Frog rally in the ninth inning. Jason Coats just missed a home run with a long fly ball to the wall in right field for the first out of the inning. Curry didn't miss as he delivered his first-career walk-off hit, a home run to straightaway center field.

Kyle Winkler allowed eight runs on 12 hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. The sophomore struck out seven and walked just one in the no-decision. Tyler Lockwood picked up the win in relief, tossing 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. He allowed one walk and struck out two to improve to 5-2 on the season.

At the plate, Taylor Featherston had a monster day with a pair of home runs and three RBIs. Brance Rivera, Bryan Holaday, Josh Elander and Curry also homered for the Frogs.

Back-to-back blasts by Rivera and Holaday got the Frogs off to a fast start with a 2-0 lead. Rivera's third home run of the season came on the very first pitch he saw in the contest, while Holaday's sixth home run of the campaign came on a 2-0 offering.

UNLV battled back with a two-run shot in the top of the third to tie the game at two. Hunter Beaty reached on a bunt singled and scored on Jarred Frierson's fourth home run of the year.

The tie wouldn't last long as the Frogs answered with a two-run blast of their own to regain a 4-2 advantage. Curry was hit by a one-out pitch and scored on an Elander home run to left center.

The see-saw battle continued into the bottom of the inning as the Rebels manufactured two runs to tie the game at four. Brandon Bayardi and RJ Arnold hit back-to-back doubles to pull the Rebels within one and Nolan Clark grounded into a double play to tie the game at four.

With one swing of the bat, Featherston gave the lead right back to the Frogs. Leading off the fourth, Featherston connected for his second home run of the season to put TCU back on top 5-4.

A four-spot in the top of the seventh gave the Rebels their first lead of the game. With two on and one out, a Frierson single tied the game at five. Drew Beuerlein connected on a three-run home run to put the Rebels up 8-5.

Elander sparked a Frog rally in the bottom of the eighth with a lead-off single. Rebel reliever Brian Gilbertson retired the next two batters but couldn't get past Featherston as he connected for his second home run of the contest, a two-run shot to left center that pulled the Frogs within one, 8-7.

TCU improves to 29-8 on the season and 10-3 in league play. The Frogs will go for their third straight series sweep on Sunday afternoon. Game time for the contest has been moved to 12:30 p.m. Steven Maxwell will go for TCU and face UNLV's Matt Hutchison.
