Current, Former Frogs to compete at USATF
USATF Championships begin Wednesday in Sacramento

FORT WORTH, Texas -- One current Frog and three former Frogs will compete in the 2014 USATF Outdoor Championships beginning Wednesday at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State University in Sacramento, California.

TCU's Ronnie Baker, who as a sophomore qualified for four events at the NCAA Championships earlier this month in Eugene, Oregon, will compete in the 100 meters along with 2013 NCAA 100-meter Champion Charles Silmon.

In addition to Baker and Silmon, TCU 100-meter record holder Jessica Young will compete in the 100 meters and 2012 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Champion Whitney Gipson will compete in the long jump.

"For Ronnie Baker, it's a great experience for him to compete," TCU track and field coach Darryl Anderson said. "He's be one of the youngest people in the meet and he'll be competing in the most competitive and grueling event."

Young, who holds the school record at 11.12; Baker, who finished fourth (10.14) in the semifinals at the NCAA Preliminaries in Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Silmon will compete on Day Two of the competition Thursday at 9 p.m. and 9:25 p.m., respectively.
"This will be a great experience Ronnie to get in there and knock heads with some of the elite American sprinters," Anderson said.

Gipson competes on Day 4 at 2:15 p.m.
