Catalon Named to Hornung Award Watch List
Academic All-Big 12 honoree has led the Horned Frogs in rushing the last two seasons
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- TCU tailback B.J. Catalon has been named to the watch list for the 2014 Paul Hornung Award, presented to the nation's most versatile player.
A junior from Houston, Catalon was one of four players nationally last season with both a rushing touchdown and kickoff return for a touchdown.
Catalon was a second-team Academic All-Big 12 honoree last year. He ran for 569 yards to become the first Horned Frog to top TCU in rushing in back-to-back seasons since Joseph Turner from 2007-09. Catalon totaled six rushing touchdowns while leading TCU tailbacks with 11 receptions.
Catalon was honorable-mention All-Big 12 as a kickoff returner, when he placed second in the conference and 16th nationally with his 26.5 return average. His 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against LSU gave TCU at least one punt or kickoff return for a score in six of the last seven seasons. The 100-yard return also tied for second longest in TCU history while setting an AT&T Stadium record for a collegiate game.
TCU All-American Jeremy Kerley, now with the New York Jets, was a 2010 finalist for the Hornung Award.
