GoFrogs: BVB Upends Gamecocks to End Road Stint
BATON ROUGE, La. (April 7, 2019) – The No. 20 TCU beach volleyball team earned their second victory of the weekend by getting a hectic 3-2 win over No. 11 South Carolina at the LSU Beach Invitational on Saturday at the LSU Beach Volleyball Complex in Baton Rouge, La.
The Horned Frogs (14-13, 3-5 CCSA) started with an early morning match against the Gamecocks (15-8, 5-6). The Frogs picked up the first win as the No. 3 pair of Molly Scheel and Taylor Bradley secured a 22-20, 21-11 result over Franky Harrison and Carly Schnieder. South Carolina earned two quick wins at the second and fifth positions, but the TCU pair of Caroline White and Jaelyn Greene won on court four to even the score at 2-2. Court one was forced to a third set and the set was an intense affair, but Mandi Orellana and Haven Hill were able to seal the victory over Cadie Bates and Shannon Williams, 21-16, 15-21, 16-14.
Another conference match awaited TCU in the form of No. 4 LSU (21-5, 12-2). The Tigers pounced quickly and took a 2-0 lead by winning the one and four matchups. The Frogs were able to force a third set on both courts two and five, but the Tigers won court three to seal the match. TCU picked up a win on court two, as Scheel and Bradley went undefeated on the day by beating Kahlee York and Kelli Agnew, 14-21, 21-14, 15-13.
