FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU junior Julien Brun has been named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month along with Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Brun posted a 69.9 stroke average in three tournaments and rounded out the month of April with a dominating performance to claim the individual title at the Big 12 Championship.

Overall, Brun competed in three tournaments, placing first, second and 12th overall with five sub-70 rounds and eight of 10 rounds at par or lower.

The Antibes, France, native registered one of the most dominating performances in Big 12 Championship history over the weekend, claiming the individual title by nine strokes for the third-largest margin of victory in tournament history.

Brun's 72-hole score of 11-under 277 was just one stroke behind the Big 12 record of 276 by Oklahoma State's Morgan Hoffman in 2009, while setting a new Whispering Pines Golf Club course record. Brun posted back-to-back rounds of 66, the lowest score in all four rounds, while his final-round 66 tied the Big 12 Championship mark for the lowest fourth-round score. Brun rolled in 14 birdies against just two bogeys over the final 36 holes.

Brun, tabbed No. 21 nationally in the Sagarin-Golfstat rankings, increased his career tournament victories to eight, five more than the next closest Horned Frogs in program history. Brun has earned a 70.78 stroke average this season and has finished in the top 12 in 10 of 12 tournaments during the 2013-14 campaign.
