Brun Earns First-Team All-America Honors

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU junior golfer Julien Brun was named a Division I PING First-Team All-America selection, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday. Brun was one of only 10 golfers nationally to earn the first-team distinction and has claimed the honor in all three seasons at TCU.
Brun is the lone golfer in TCU history to earn three First-Team All-America selections and is one of only 26 players all-time in Division I history to earn the honor three times from the Golf Coaches Association of America. Only Wake Forest's Gary Hallberg (1977-80), Arizona State's Phil Mickelson (89-92) and Georgia Tech's David Duval (90-93) and Bryce Molder (98-01) have garnered the honor on four occasions.
Brun tallied the third-lowest stroke average in school history this season at 70.63 behind his previous marks from the 2012-13 (70.31) and 2011-12 (70.51) campaigns and increased his TCU record in career tournament victories to nine with three wins during the spring season.
The Antibes, France, native finished his junior season on a tear, winning the Big 12 Championship and the NCAA San Antonio Regional in back-to-back events, where six of his seven rounds were par or better, including four sub-70 rounds.
Brun ran away with the Big 12 individual title, setting a Whispering Pines Golf Club 72-hole course record with an 11-under 277 while carding back-to-back rounds of 66 to win by nine strokes. In San Antonio, Brun picked up where he left off, posting back-to-back rounds of 67 to earn a berth as an individual at the NCAA Championship, which he declined in order to play as an amateur at the PGA Tour's Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.
Brun set a TCU single-season record with 29 rounds of par or better during the 2013-14 campaign, including 11 of his final 12 rounds, and has finished in the top 10 in 67 percent of the 39 career tournaments played.
