Pair of Horned Frogs recognized for efforts in classroom

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU men's golfers Julien Brun and Paul Barjon were selected to the 2014 All-Academic Big 12 Golf Team, the league office announced Wednesday. For the second-straight season, Brun earned Big 12 All-Academic First-Team honors, while Barjon was named to the second team.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests.

Brun, who has been named to an all-conference academic team all three seasons at TCU, posted a runner-up finish in his last action at the Wofford Invitational to push his season stroke average below 71 (70.97). The Antibes, France, native has finished in the top 12 in nine of the 11 tournaments this season and is ranked as high as No. 8 by Scratch Players world amateur ranking.

Barjon, a sophomore from Noumea Cedex, New Caledonia, earned his first-career all-academic team honor on Tuesday. Barjon has posted a 73.80 stroke average this season with five sub-70 rounds and has tied a school single-season record with Travis Woolf (2007-08) with six eagles during the 2013-14 campaign.

The Horned Frogs return to action for the 2014 Big 12 Championship on April 25-27 at Whispering Pines Golf Course in Trinity, Texas.
