GoFrogs: Big 12 Baseball Tournament Preview

BrewingFrog

Was I supposed to type something here?
111th ranked in runs/game

211th in hits/game

194th in batting average

117th in slugging percentage

72nd in home runs per game

102nd in On Base %

71st in runs allowed/game

125th in hits allowed/game

89th in ERA

so incredibly spare this team was statistically
We were considered a Top 10 team based on talent. That is a grotesque set of stats for a team that talented. TCU failed to excel, hell, compete in just about every category.

Hard to be surprised when we were left out.

With their season on the line, Frogs fade and go 4-6 in their last 10 games. No urgency. Tournament teams pull out a win in some of those close losses in Stillwater and Morgantown. And then get blown out in the Big 12 tourney in their opener? Gutless.

I don't know CKS' contract buyout. If we can't afford to fire him, then the AD must make him change hitting coaches at the minimum. There is no reason for TCU baseball to be so passive and punch-less on offense.

More surprised that LSU and Vandy didn’t make it.

We were stinky when it counted and the powers to be choosing the field noticed.

Changes are needed.

The retirement gift to Avent is the one that is most outrageous. NC State measured up slightly less than us in most categories with the exception of SOS (and they were five behind us in RPI). They lost their tourney opener 21-12 to the 16 seed Duke, and somehow aren't listed in the last four in.

Blowing leads at WVU and OSU killed the Frogs.
not throwing our best chance to win one stupid game in the tournament killed us - at least that was the last straw to push us below NC State. Of all the terrible pitching decisions this year - that was the worst and frankly unexcusable to not understand the situation you are in regarding the post season.

Looking at what got in from the SEC and it raises an eyebrow that we did not get in.
no it doesn't - we didn't deserve to get in. Did you watch a single game in the SEC tourney? they play real baseball every day with no easy outs. we would have been close to last in the SEC this year.

One y'all learn to not care your lives will be so much more simpler and free. They'll always stack the deck against us. Too many SEC and BIG mouths to feed. They screwed us a few years ago when we didn't get it but should have. They screwed us last year by sending us to Oregon. If we're a 6-7 team, theyll seed us as a 10 national seed. If we're a 15-16, theyll send us somewhere and give an SEC team the host duties. The goal will always be for 6 of the last 8 to be from SEC/BIG. Softball, 7 of 8. Football 8 of 9. Men's basketball 6 of 8. It's all rigged. We are not one of them. It's like climbing a corporate ladder that's always gonna have a random slippery rung. We're rubes for buying into it. I watch for sheer pleasure now. I give zero [ Finebaum ]s about how we finish.
we didn't get screwed - what a joke. We didnt deserve it.

I ask this every time this comes up. Can somebody please provide specific examples of the AD’s poor judgment or lack of action that warrants him being shown the door? If there’s a reason why he is a failed bit then I just want some specifics so I can form an opinion . I’m pretty neutral but if there’s something specific that will give me the redass then I would like to know it.
he has not done anything terrible - because he literally has done nothing. Well he did extend our below the Mendoza line head coach in football, but beyond that he has done nothing substantial in his time here period. He has not been able to raise much in the way of additional funding for any projects, he has actually not launched or even positioned any real capital improvements, he definitely is not increasing the pool of financial supporters at a level that is noticeable even for the future - if I had to summarize his tenure, it would be to say he has stayed the course that was set in motion by the worst AD we ever had - which is in itself - the issue.

But my point was he has definitely not shown an ability or willingness to make major changes - despite the fact that baseball should be the one sport he not only knows a ton about but also should be the one he cares the most about.

Actually, it does.

And, yes, saw plenty of SEC play due to a young pitcher. Some road trips too.
