GoFrogs: TCU Completes Perfect Weekend; Sweeps The Fight In The Fort

FORT WORTH–
No. 1 TCU beach volleyball notched a 4-0 weekend after Day 2 of The Fight in the Fort. The Horned Frogs defeated No. 6 Grand Canyon, 3-2, and Texas, 5-0, to improve to 20-0 on the season.

The Horned Frogs swept their first-ever meeting with the Longhorns. The team still remains unbeaten against programs from the Lone Star state with a record of 30-0. Additionally, the clean sweep was the 14th of the season for the Horned Frogs.

TCU increased their home winning streak to 38 matches, dating back to March 6, 2020. Three Frogs turned in a perfect performance over the weekend: Daniela Alvarez, Tania Moreno and Maria Gonzalez.

QUICK HITS AGAINST No. 6 GCU
  • Rochelle Scott and Hailey Brockett notched the first point for the Frogs from the No. 5 position: 21-14, 21-7.
  • The victory marked the pairings 11th win together this season and they remain unbeaten.
  • The duo had the fewest points allowed in their second set victory against the Antelopes.

  • Keagon Polk and Tara Patton started the match off with the first point at the No. 5 position: 21-10, 21-10.
  • The pair made their first debut on the courts together this season and earned the first point for the Frogs ever against the first-year Longhorn program.
  • Polk added in her sixth win this season and Patton her third.
  • Luana Araco and Josie Sek struck for the second point at the No. 4 position: 21-19, 21-11.
  • The duo won their debut as a pairing.
  • Both Araco and Sik notched in their third win of the season.
  • Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno clinched the match for TCU with their straight-set victory at No. 1: 21-10, 21-13.
  • The pairing improved their record this season to 16-1.
  • Alvarez secured her 16th point this season and Moreno her 13th.
  • Maria Gonzalez and Hallie Frist tallied the fourth consecutive point with their victory from the No. 3 position: 21-15, 21-18.
  • The pairing remained unbeaten together, 3-0.
  • Gonzalez improved to 18-2 this season and Frist notched her fifth win as a Horned Frog.
  • In a three-set match, Kate Privett and Anhelina Khmil locked up the 14th sweep of the season for TCU from the No. 2 position: 21-14, 17-21, 15-8.
  • The pairing improved to 8-1 this season.
  • Privett notched her 18th win as a Frog as did Khmil.
UP NEXT
The Horned Frogs travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for the North Florida Invitational. They will open play on March 31 against North Florida and Florida Gulf Coast.
