GoFrogs: Bats Silenced In Game 3 Loss

FORT WORTH -- Minnesota took Sunday's rubber game by a final score of 8-0 at Lupton Stadium. TCU's bats were held in check as the Horned Frogs registered just five hits on the afternoon.

The Rundown
Minnesota's pitching trio of Patrick Fredrickson, Brett Schulze and Jeff Fasching held the TCU offense in check much of the game scattering five hits around four walks.

The Horned Frogs had a couple of base runners in the second and fourth inning, but couldn't come up with the base hit. Tristan Hanoian singled and Coby Boulwarewalked with two outs in the second, but a fly out ended the inning.

Lead-off singles from Luken Baker in the fourth and Josh Watson in the seventh were erased on double play balls that ended the inning.

The Golden Gophers took advantage of every opportunity, scoring runs in four different innings. Minnesota opened the scoring in the fourth on a one-out single from Cole McDevitt. Two more runs scored in the fifth on a throwing error as the lead grew to 3-0.

Three more runs scored in the sixth helped along by a two-out error that led to two of the runs. A home run in the ninth and a bases-loaded walk accounted for the final score.

Sean Wymer (0-1) took the loss after allowing six runs (two earned) on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings of work.
