GoFrogs: TCU Takes Series Opener Against Oklahoma
FORT WORTH – A seven run fifth inning keyed a 9-7 victory for TCU over Oklahoma Friday night at Lupton Stadium. Ten different Horned Frogs registered a hit in the contest, while six drove in a run. Bobby Goodloe led the offense with three RBIs.

The Rundown
Oklahoma opened up a 3-0 lead in the first, but the Frogs responded with one of their own in the bottom of the frame. Bobby Goodloe grounded out to drive in Elijah Nunez to make it a two run game, 3-1.

The floodgates opened in the fifth as TCU struck for seven runs to open up an 8-3 lead. Garrison Berkley ignited the rally with a one out double. With runners on the corners, Tommy Sacco made it a one run ballgame. David Bishop grounded out to tie the game at three.

A two out double from Goodloe gave the Frogs the 4-3 lead and started a string of six straight hitters reaching base. Kurtis Byrne extended the lead to two, 5-3, with a base hit. Gray Rodgers singled in two more runs followed by an RBI-double from Porter Brown. A Goodloe sacrifice fly in the sixth gave TCU a six run lead, 9-3.

Oklahoma scored four runs in its final three at-bats and brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth. With two on and nobody out, Garrett Wright came on and retired three straight to record the save.

Cam Brown (3-2) was outstanding in relief. He allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, walked four and struck out six.

TCU scored seven times in the fifth inning. The Frogs sent 12 batters to the plate, tallied seven hits and drew two walks. Five of the seven runs were scored with two outs.

Garrett Wright collected his third save of the year and the fourth of his career.

With the win, TCU improves to 28-16 overall and moves into a tie for first place in the Big 12 with a 13-6 record. The Horned Frogs and Sooners will meet in Game 2 on Saturday afternoon at 2.
