MINNEAPOLIS – Johnny Ray tossed a complete-game shutout in leading TCU to a 12-0 win over Minnesota on Saturday night at US Bank Stadium. Austin Henry, Conner Shepherd and Tommy Sacco each homered for the Horned Frogs.

The Rundown
Johnny Ray (1-0) was outstanding in his second start of the season. The redshirt-freshman surrendered just two hits and walked just two while striking out seven. After issuing a one-out walk in the first, Ray retired the next 21 batters he faced.

TCU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first and never looked back. Porter Brown doubled to lead off the game. Austin Henry launched a two-run blast to left for his first home run of the season.

Tommy Sacco extended the lead with a lead-off home run in the third. Conner Shepherd doubled home a run in the sixth to make it a 4-0 ballgame.

TCU broke the game open with eight runs in the final three innings. Gene Wood hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Brown. After an error got Sacco to third, Hunter Wolfe put down a bunt single to push the lead to 6-0.

The Frogs put up another two spot in the eighth on a two-out single off the bat of Sacco. Four more runs crossed the plate in the ninth, highlighted by a two-run double from Gray Rodgers and a two-run home run from Shepherd.

Stat of the Game:
21 – After a one-out walk in the first, Johnny Ray retired 21 straight batters. He threw TCU's first complete-game shutout since Haylen Green shut out Lamar 11-0 on May 6, 2018. He retired 25 of 29 batters faced in the game.

• TCU is off to a 5-0 start to the season for the first time since the 2015 season.

Porter Brown tallied his first multi-hit game of the season and the sixth of his career.
Conner Shepherd recorded his first multi-hit game of the season and the 26th of his career.
Tommy Sacco tallied his second career multi-hit game and his second career multi-RBI game.
Gray Rodgers has hit safely in all five games this season.
• Rodgers notched his third career multi-RBI contest.
Hunter Wolfe collected his second multi-hit game of the year and the 15th of his career.
• Rodgers, Brown, Sikes and Wolfe have reached base safely in all five games.

With the win, TCU improves to 5-0 on the season. The Horned Frogs and the Gophers will square off in Game 2 of the series on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
