GoFrogs: TCU Drops Big 12 Tournament Opener

OKLAHOMA CITY – No. 11 Oklahoma State scored four times in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 5-2 victory over TCU on Day 1 of the Phillips 66 Big 12 tournament. In the loss, Nick Lodolo fanned 12 to give him 125 strikeouts this season, tying the fourth-highest single-season total in school history.

The Rundown
Oklahoma State opened the scoring on a lead-off home run in the second from Colin Simpson.

TCU responded in the top of the third with a one-out blast off the bat of Hunter Wolfe to tie the game at one.

Nick Lodolo (6-5) worked around a two-out walk in the second and promptly set down 10 in a row. Included in that stretch was a streak of eight straight strikeouts.

A lead-off infield single in the sixth for Oklahoma State got the ball rolling for the Cowboys. A walk followed to put the go-ahead run on second. With one out, Andrew Navigato doubled in the go-ahead run. A sacrifice fly followed by a two-run home run from Trevor Boone pushed the lead to four, 5-1.

Jake Guenther hit a one out solo home run in the ninth to account for the final score.

Stat of the Game:
125 – Nick Lodolo raised his season strikeout to 125 with 12 strikeouts in the game. That mark is tied for fourth all-time with Brad Furnish's total in 2006.
