Barroso Sá Qualifies for NCAA National Championships
TCU misses cut line as a team by one stroke, finishes sixth at NCAA Lexington Regional
LEXINGTON, Ky. – TCU fell one stroke short of reaching the NCAA D1 Women's Golf Championship, finishing in sixth at the NCAA Lexington Regional.
The Horned Frogs shot a 285 (-3) and trimmed their team score to three-over 867 on the final day of play at Keene Trace Golf Club. TCU carded six birdies and an eagle over its last five holes.
But the spirited comeback – the Frogs were six shots off the cut line at the turn – was not enough to overtake a hard-charging Vanderbilt squad. The Commodores finished plus-two after posting a final round score of 283 to earn the fifth-and-final ticket to the NCAA Championships.
TCU will have representation at Nationals, though.
Sofia Barroso Sá finished fourth outright at six-under 210 and qualified as the highest-placing individual on a non-advancing team. The individual portion of NCAA Championships run from May 16-19 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
A junior, Barroso Sá will make her second appearance at Nationals in three seasons. She tied for 37th at the 2023 NCAA Championships in her first year in Fort Worth, posting a two-over 290 over 72 holes. She was the only Frog to advance to individual play as TCU tied for 20th as a team.
The Horned Frogs' final round in 2024-25 was also noteworthy in that the team broke its program single-season records for par-or-better rounds (14) and season birdies (518).
TCU collected 17 birdies on the day, including 10 on the front nine.
Barroso Sá led the field with 16. She went three-under (33) on the front nine and birdied her penultimate hole on eight to put the Frogs within a two-stroke swing of Vanderbilt.
The lowest round of the day by a Horned Frog belonged to Camille Min-Gaultier. The Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Min-Gaultier signed a three-under 69 scorecard. She eagled on hole five and punctuated her first collegiate season with a birdie on the ninth green. Min-Gaultier led the 66-player field in pars (42).
Min-Gaultier ascended nine spots up the leaderboard and tied for 13th at minus-one (215).
Kirstin Angosta gave TCU three final rounds of par-or-better after shooting an even 72 and joining a tie for 38th. She concluded the 54-hole affair seven-over.
Gracie McGovern tied for 30th (+4, 220) and capped her freshman year with a two-over 74.
The round was the final in Meagan Winans' career. TCU's lone senior, Winans turned in a counting score of 73 and tied for 54th at plus-13.
Florida State won the tournament at 15-under 849 while Carla Bernat of Kansas State finished 13-under (203) to claim the individual championship.
