ABOUT THE GAME
- No. 17 TCU plays away from home for the third straight week when it travels down I-35 to face Texas in Austin.
- Although the Horned Frogs are on the road for a third consecutive game, they have yet to leave the state. TCU played at SMU Sept. 7 and in Arlington last week versus No. 4 Ohio State. Ten of TCU's 12 regular-season games this season are in Texas.
- TCU has defeated Texas the last four years and is 5-1 against the Longhorns since beginning Big 12 play in 2012. TCU is 3-0 in Austin as a Big 12 member, matching its longest run of road victories in the series. The Horned Frogs also recorded three straight road wins over Texas in 1933, 1935 and 1937.
- The Horned Frogs' four-game winning streak over Texas has equaled a school record. The only previous TCU four-game victory streak over the Longhorns came from 1935-38. The Horned Frogs won national championships on the front (1935) and back end (1938) of that stretch.
- TCU's Gary Patterson is 5-2 as a head coach against Texas and 1-0 versus Tom Herman.
- TCU is 37-12 in regular-season games following a loss under Patterson.
- The Horned Frogs have opened with a record of 2-1 or better for the 16th time in 18 seasons under Patterson. TCU is looking to go 3-1 or better for the 14th time with Patterson.

ROAD WORK
- TCU's 38 road wins since 2009 are second in the nation.
- At 38-12 (.760), TCU has the nation's fourth-best road record since 2009. 4TCU's 45-18 record (.714) in road and neutral-site games since 2009 is the nation's sixth-best mark.
- TCU is 17-11 on the road in Big 12 games.
- Seven of TCU's last 17 Big 12 road games have been decided by seven points or less. The Horned Frogs are 5-2 in those games. Since beginning Big 12 play in 2012, TCU is 8-5 in conference road games decided by seven points or less.

SERIES NOTES
- As a Big 12 member, TCU is 5-1 against Texas. 4Saturday is the 89th meeting between TCU and Texas. The Longhorns hold a 62-25-1 advantage in a series that began with an 18-10 Texas win in 1897.
- TCU is 14-34-1 versus Texas in Austin and 11-28 against the Longhorns in Fort Worth.
- Texas is TCU's fourth-most played series. The Horned Frogs' 88 games with the Longhorns trail only Baylor (113), SMU (98) and Texas A&M (92).

THE KINGSMEN CONNECTION
- TCU head coach Gary Patterson served in 1987 as the defensive coordinator at Cal Lutheran, alma mater of Texas head coach Tom Herman.

REMEMBER WHEN
- One of the more memorable wins in TCU history was a 6-0 victory at No. 1 Texas on Nov. 8, 1961.
- The lone score in the game was a second-quarter touchdown pass from Sonny Gibbs to Buddy Iles.

FAMILY TIES
- Texas wide receiver Jerrod Heard's younger sister, Lauren, is a sophomore guard for the TCU women's basketball team.
- Lauren Heard played in all 36 games, including six starts for the Horned Frogs last season. She averaged 6.2 points and 3.0 rebounds.

TCU NOTABLES
- TCU is one of just five programs nationally to finish in the top 10 of the final polls at least three times in the last four seasons. The others are Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
- Over the last five seasons, the Horned Frogs' 42-14 overall record and 26-10 conference mark both rank second in the Big 12.
- Gary Patterson's 18 seasons as TCU's head coach are more than the combined tenures of the 11 other FBS head coaches in the state of Texas.
- Under Patterson, TCU has posted seven top-10 finishes and 11 in the top 25. The Horned Frogs have won at least 11 games in 10 of the last 15 seasons.
- Ten of TCU's 12 regular-season games will be played in the state of Texas. The Horned Frogs will not leave the state until their first flight of the season Oct. 26 for a game at Kansas. TCU will stay in its Fort Worth hotel for nine of its 12 games.
- KaVontae Turpin's 78-yard punt return for a touchdown against SMU made him TCU's career leader in punt returns for a score (4) as well as special teams touchdowns (5). 4In three of their last four games, the Horned Frogs have had three different players return punts for touchdowns. Since 1996, TCU is the only FBS school to accomplish the feat.
