Team notes
* TCU limited Texas Tech, the nation's leader in total offense entering the game at 591.4 yards per game, to 353 yards. The Red Raiders were also tied for seventh in scoring in the FBS at 48.4 points per game and were held to 17 points.
* The Horned Frogs have held all six opponents in 2018 below their season averages in scoring and total offense.
* TCU fell to 111-5 under head coach Gary Patterson when allowing 17 points or less.
* The loss snapped TCU's eight-game home winning streak.
* The Horned Frogs dropped to 44-8 in home night games under Patterson.
* TCU is 84-20 in 18 seasons under Patterson at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
* The Horned Frogs are now 131-17 under Patterson when ahead at the half.
* TCU lost for just the fourth time in its last 17 games after an open date.
* Over the last five seasons, TCU's 43-16 overall record and 27-12 conference mark rank second in the Big 12.
* The Horned Frogs outgained Texas Tech, 411-353, marking the third time they have surpassed the 400-yard mark this season and fifth time they have outgained their opponent.
* With true freshman Tevailance Hunt's first career reception, TCU quarterbacks have now completed passes to 15 different receivers this season.
* TCU had four sacks, two each by defensive ends Ben Banogu and L.J. Collier, equaling a season high from the SMU game.
* TCU had two players (Banogu, Collier) with multiple sacks for the first time since an Oct. 8, 2016, win at Kansas when Josh Carraway had 3.0 and Mat Boesen 1.5.
* TCU played a 17-14 game for the second straight contest. The Horned Frogs defeated Iowa State by that score Sept. 29.
* Texas Tech led 10-7 after three quarters. The 17 points were the fewest in a TCU game after three quarters since the Red Raiders led the Horned Frogs 10-3 in 2013 in Lubbock.
* The combined 10 points in the first half, with the Horned Frogs ahead 7-3, were the lowest in a TCU game since it led 7-3 versus West Virginia last season en route to a 31-24 victory.
* TCU scored for the 326th consecutive game. It's the nation's second-longest current streak and fourth all-time in NCAA history. The Horned Frogs haven't been blanked since Nov. 16, 1991, at Texas (32-0)
* TCU's team captains were Ben Banogu, Kellton Hollins, Shawn Robinson and Ty Summers. It was Robinson's first time being a captain.
* TCU wore a black jersey with black pants and a purple chrome helmet.

Individual Notes


* KaVontae Turpin's six receptions moved him ahead of John Washington (135, 1993-96) into eighth place on TCU's career list with 140.
* Turpin's 120 yards receiving gave him his first 100-yard game of the season and fourth of his career. It was the first 100-yard receiving game by a Horned Frog in 2018.
* Turpin's 31-yard fourth-quarter touchdown was the 12th of his career, tying him with Jeremy Kerley (2007-10) and Phillip Epps (1978-81) for 10th on TCU's career list.
* The 20-yard second quarter touchdown reception by Jalen Reagor was his team-best third of the season and the 11th of his career, moving him into 13th place on TCU's career list.
* Reagor has at least one reception in his last 11 games, the longest current streak by a Horned Frog. He has a catch in 19 of his 20 games at TCU.
* Reagor finished with 73 receiving yards on a career-high tying eight receptions, pushing his career total to 1,008 yards.
* Reagor became the 17th player to surpass the 1,000-yard receiving mark for his career during Gary Patterson's head coaching tenure.
* Al'Dontre Davis had five receptions for 56 yards after entering the game with one catch on the season.
* True freshman Tevailance Hunt had his first collegiate reception. It went for 9 yards.
* Ni'Jeel Meeking's first-quarter 8-yard reception was the second of his career.
* Shawn Robinson passed for 290 yards while adding a team-best 42 yards rushing.
* TreVontae Hights made his first collegiate start.
* Ben Banogu had a TCU career-high eight tackles, including two sacks. His collegiate career high was nine stops for ULM versus Tulsa in 2015. It was his second multi-sack game of the season and third of his TCU career. He now has 4.5 sacks on the year and 13 in his two seasons as a Horned Frog.
* Six of Banogu's tackles were solo stops, setting a new career high.
* Banogu has 21 tackles for loss in 20 career games at TCU and 35 in his collegiate career. He had 14 tackles for loss for ULM in 2015.
* L.J. Collier had a career-high two sacks to give him 3.5 on the season and 11.5 in his career.
* Ty Summers had four tackles to give him 300 in his career. He ranks third for most stops in the 18-season tenure of Patterson, trailing only former teammate Travin Howard (343, 2014-17) and Jason Phillips (315, 2005-08), his position coach the previous two seasons.
* Julius Lewis' interception was the first of his career.
* Markel Simmons equaled a career high with four tackles. He also had one pass breakup.
* Ridwan Issahaku finished with a season-high nine tackles.
* Redshirt freshman Terrell Cooper had three tackles after entering the game with none in his first five collegiate contests.
* Andrew David put three punts at or inside the 14-yard line, including two at the 1- and 2-yard lines. It was his first career game with multiple punts inside the 20.
