GMFP to become USC def. Coordinator?

I seem to recall that it often took defensive players 1-2 seasons to learn GP’s complex schemes. With players just doing one year stints at 4 different schools now, I wonder how successfully he will be able to implement the schemes that he would like. I would think that would be a huge hindrance to his success. I hope he does get back into the game and I wish him great success.

After listening to him all season on FireTV I am not surprised that we he would entertain a position like this. Also, when they fire Lincoln, he can just assume the HC responsibilities.

Well, if you can't beat them....
Gary never beat Riley once.
This is why Patterson's purported interest in USC is fascinating. Riley perfected the response to the GP split defense--using crossing patterns to put unaccounted-for receivers into one or both sides of the field. GP seemed unable to develop an effective counter while at TCU. I could see him being interested to work with Riley to evolve his core-defense concept to account for a crossing strategy. What better way to improve your system than to team up with the guy who broke what you developed?

On the other side of the coin, SD said that his offense always had trouble against Joe Gillespie, only to fire him a year or two later...

He whent to Texas and Baylor after TCU and game has just passed him by he talks about being a horned frog forever and then keeps joining other schools
We fired him. He's not allowed to get a job after that?

USC isn't Texas or Baylor either. I didn't like seeing him at those schools either, but I asked why you thought getting a job at USC would hurt his TCU legacy. We don't have any real beef with USC.

No it's just the timing of it all we go and best USC and after in the press con Riley talks about how next year is there year and they can finally go out and get a good defensive coordinator becuase people know this program is locked into football now and he would have been elected in to the hual of game this year but it gets set back again if he takes the job

TCU kicked LAWHCGMFP to the curb. Some liked it and many others didn’t. That chapter is said and done. After what happened, why would any Frog fan…particularly the ones that were so happy to see him [ Finebaum ] canned…get an ass-rash because Gary has an opportunity to go do something he loves. Like it or not, Gary brought our little school out of obscurity to its current place in the college football relevancy. He did it with integrity and never once disgraced our university. He will forever be a well deserved TCU legend.
So, why don’t we all just leave Gary the scheiss alone, wish him well and wait to see if he can still make a difference to a team that needs some serious defensive help.
Go Frogs…

Move to LA? or buy a condo in an area that didn’t burn down? I would think a DC would be required to be there pretty much year round. Glad they’re talking to him but skeptical.
