Gary Anderson new head coach at Wisky...and other coaching thoughts

Great hire IMO, thought he was the most underated coaching prospect out there this year, dude can flat out coach. Seems like a first class guy, big upgrade over Bielema in terms of class, he is walking into a pretty good situation. Won a Utah State, rather quickly, with no talent.

I still think David Baliff at Rice is one of the best prospects out there, he just took Rice to another bowl, won 10 games a few years ago at Rice, CDC hired him. None of the BCS schools seem to be looking at him

Also another year of coaching moves, Chris Petersen stays at Boise, glad he didn't take any of the openings this year, if he ever leaves Boise it better be for a big time gig. Maybe Texas?

Spread option ball at Wiscy? Culture shock.

I think Baliff was on the hot seat. I think rice won 5 straight to be bowl eligible meaning the started 1-6 or some such. I think Danny has a spot on the staff here when the HC gig doesn't work out. Good coach.

A very good hire for Wisconsin as it would have been for any of the schools looking for a coach this year. Really surprising it took this long for Anderson to get a BCS job.

USU was one of the top defensive teams on the country this year and Anderson may or may not bring his offense with him. He win the job because of how his team played @ Wisc this season.

It sucks for USU, but the fans just don't come out for games (20k) or so in their best year ever.

This looks like a good hire, although if I was trying to hire a college football coach I would go to Tim DeRuyter and wouldn't consider anyone else.

DeRuyter is on his way up, for sure. He did a really good job with AFA's defense (it has not been near as good since he left) and then ATM. But what he had done this year at Fresno has been just great.

Anderson is a defensive guy, former DC for the Utes during their hey-day.

He may or may not bring his OC with him, and I doubt he is married to the spread offense. He (or whoever his OC is) will probably adjust the offense to whatever personnel he has at Wisky
