What's the best press box story you've got?
I have a few.
I was at my first job real job out of TCU working at the Killeen Daily Herald. Four-man staff and I got to go to cover Baylor home games at Floyd Casey Stadium.

There was young reporter sitting by me talking to one of the girls who would run stats by after each quarter. Baylor H.O.T
girls (for Heart O' Texas that was the name of the area where the rodeo in Waco was held and Baylor played Basketball).

Well, the two of them talked a lot and near the end of the game he asked her if she'd like to go out after the game.

She said she would but her parents didn't let her car date yet. She was like 14. She did not look 14, she looked like she was a Baylor co-ed.

All the guys around him heard her reply and there was an audible groan. Saw that guy a few times after that at Baylor games and he never lived it down.

That one is easy.

Saturday, November 21, 2015; Norman, Oklahoma.

Wes and I were covering the game and the TCU offense was doing a good job late in the game, looking like we might drive to tie it up (we eventually tried for 2 and failed) when suddenly—after a particularly big TCU play—a flurry of papers started raining down from the suites above then suddenly an object that looked like a stapler flew out and smashed into the awning right in front of us. Wes asked out loud, "what in the world is that?" The Oklahoma beat writer next to us replied, without skipping a beat or looking up from his laptop, "Mike Stoops."

I was at that game. Took the KFC bus. We parked in the driveway of that house right down the street from the stadium. We would have won that game if we had just kicked all the extra points instead of going for 2, the first td of the 2nd half and the last td near the end of the game. Also would have helped if Boykin wasn't hurt. That was the first real hostile environment I had been to as a fan. Those hillbillies sitting behind us was talking [ Finebaum ] the whole first half. Didn't hear alot out of them the 2nd half. It was a really cold night up there too.

Yeah that was a fun trip, and I still agree with the decision to go for 2 at the end instead of playing for OT in that environment.

Back in my paramedic days in Austin, EMS staffed 2 first aid station inside of DKR Memorial. I volunteered for the TCU/UT game and was assigned to the station on the camera deck, home side. We were having some success, and I guess I was a little too vocal in support of the Frogs. Some guy with a gameday badge told me to tone it down, since the camera audio was picking me up. Go Frogs!

I agree with going for the win at the end.

Just saying if we had kicked the extra point EARLY in the 3rd quarter then we could have won the game by kicking the extra point at the end. GP panicked or something. The score was 23-13, so why go for 2 when you have pretty much the entire second half to play.

Dykes called that last pass play. Great execution, but hate the call. Guess there is no faith in the pk.

Just a terrible offensive performance by the entire team, but a win is a win.
our defense had woke up and figured it out, finally. But I think Sonny was trying to make sure we didn't had them the ball there, or worse.
I would have called a play to have Hoov run wide. Sonny prolly thought they were looking for a run play and not the dagger to the throat.

And it did give the offense a major up to finish on. Colorado to BYU to the edge. We faired better. I'd like to see us put Kstate away solid. But given how we were soft in the middle for most of the game on Saturday, One would think we see a dose of that from curly locks.

That part has always bugged me about that game.

my thought has been, a. should not have gone for it early in the game. b. do what is needed to keep your chance to win alive at the end. Didn't make it early, just take the 1 and try and win in OT.

Score 35 points and it's a "terrible" offensive performance?

Some people are never satisfied I guess. Yes, our OL run blocking is still below acceptable standards, but 35 points , anyway you get them is not "terrible".
How many points in the 1st half? How many points in the 2nd half against ASU? The offense is consistently playing from behind the chains. Two of our scores started in FG range for most teams. Our 3rd down efficiency was less than 50%. At least we protected the football, but the offense is playing with too much fire.
