Gameday Thread, Baylor Hate Edition: TCU at Baylor

I wish Sonny would be canned, but how do you fix a lousy team with a weak DL in the middle of the season? Our best DL left after spring ball and we weren't able to replace him. Now, we have a giant hole in the DL and teams are exploiting it. The bigger question is how do we fix it next year? Do we have 1 or 2 run-stuffing DTs on the way?

Unless you are going to write a $50 million check, then we are stuck with this staff for another year.
By not repeating it again…

Lots of people tried to explain last year that this was Dykes and 2022 was a fluke- it may turn out to be the worst thing that could have happen if we allow his buyout to keep him here

In addition to the changing college football landscape - one that we are borderline to be involved with at the top tier when we are killing it and not even close when we suck

We are in year 1 of a 10 year trend where each graduating high school class has less students than the year before

And we just dropped out of the top 100 in the most visible college ranking service while also being villainized for being more expensive than Harvard…

All of that combined is going to result in a loss of interest from the demand side of our true revenue stream - students

And it will cost a hell of a lot more than $50mm

I was there. Frogs are progressing but need a few more guys. Baylor rushed the field like they won the Super Bowl. I am glad we mean so much to them.
2021 Last drive Baylor QB throws interception.
2022 Last drive Baylor QB makes bad decisions and punts back to Max
2024 Last drive Baylor QB makes a play on 4th and 9.
Our fans would have rushed that field in a New York minute had it been at home and we won on a last second play…

The “rushing the field is stupid” crowd - especially in a rivalry game - are the actual idiots - not the fans that do it

And I am too old to get over the wall - but more power to those that stay long enough to celebrate

It will still cost $50 million to buy them out now, hire a new staff now and bump up the NIL now. Where is that money now, especially when the alumni have been hit hard by multiple fundraising programs? People are going to have to write big checks and I doubt they want to do that now. If they were willing to do that, then Sonny's crew would already be gone.

We are stuck with mess for another year and possibly two.

Just get rid of the dumbass AD that put us in this position to further prevent any further damage

I think it is fine they rushed. My point is beating TCU means a lot to them.

SD has a tolerance for poor play, no demand for excellence from the players or coaches…. content with average, and that’s what we have…
I don’t mean to say you are wrong, but I’m not so sure that the Frogs football team is average. I think we are below average. We are last or close to it in several categories both offense and defense related. We have been beaten by teams at or near the bottom more than once this year. To me, those sorts of thing hung around a team’s neck points to a team that is below average overall. Just sayin…

That’s on the school for jacking up prices like that. No way in hell do I attend if TCU cost that back in the day. The school should be priced like UT and difficult to get into , but every dollar seems to be earmarked for a new building not controlling costs for the students.

I'm a Frog fan for life but.......
We all had an idea of how shaky this team was gonna be.
2nd yr qb, 1st yr rb, new def cord and defense, best defensive player transferring, best offensive lineman injured, 2 of 3 best db's injured, new kicker, new punter
Frogs can't run or stop the run. Those are major game management and red zone issues.
Special teams need work too. How many shanked punts and pat/fg/kickoff misplays can they make?

It’s all on the “school” - so not sure you point

But it’s all correlated- and if TCU suffers financially, everything suffers

There is no great athletic program without a strong financial academic institution behind it

And that academic institution grows when we are good at sports and suffers when we are not

Guess I hurt someone’s feeling posting the wrong circumvention of a very very bad naughty word.

What a joke!!!

So i couldn’t remember the acceptable word people use to circumvent the same word, my post gets deleted.

Maybe instead of deleting the entire post, that word could have been replaced with what is apparently acceptable. What is it? It starts with the letter S

Can’t say I was yelling at Sonny to go for it. 4th and 2, 10 minutes to go, Tie game. Fail and you’ve handed Baylor the ball at midfield for the go ahead score. Sonny wanted a punt down to the 10 or better, and a stop by the defense. Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t.
And had we failed to convert on 4th down we’d all be completely losing our poo at Sonny and Kendal and you name it.

Our defense wasn't going to stop them, whether it was at their 40 or their own 10.

They had just finished *2-straight 70+ yard drives for TDs.

Punting was the wrong choice 10/10 times. But Sonny isn't very smart.

Shreve pointed out we were missing two key players in the D-line so that certainly factored. I hope 93 can return this week.

Have you even looked at the roster? Have you seen the size and speed?

Obviously not.
More to it than size and speed MP. The desire to perform at a high-level everyday play, practice, attitude, athleticism, ability to understand, learn and repeat with learned memory responses. (this is a biggie with this team apparently)
A Coach who pushes an aggressive attitude on and off the field for the program. And finally, the desire to perform as a team instead of individuals. Yes, we have size and speed but that alone will not continually win football games.
