Why the rivalry with Baylor means so much to TCU

Conferences are defined by many things: the brands, the championships secured and, of course, the rivalries.

For the next iteration of the Big 12, the league only protected four rivalry games that would be played annually and TCU vs. Baylor is one of them.

It shows the significance of the history between the two schools. And while there’s less at stake this year than past years, the Horned Frogs haven’t lost sight of why this game is so important to the university and Fort Worth.

I think it's more a rivalry for Baylor than it is for TCU. I mean, it's nice to beat them (maybe more than a KU or ISU win), but that goes for anyone TCU plays. I cannot think of a single team we'd play where I hope we lose. Their 2014 win was the pinnacle moment of their program's entire history so they have to hang on to that.

I think the hatred has died down on both sides since the warden was fired. Dave Aranda seems like a great guy, and to be quite frank, Baylor has been a non-issue for us save the one aberration a couple years ago when they beat us.

All that being said, I still want to be the crap out of them at every given opportunity probably more than most schools for various reasons, not the least of which is my older brother and my wife both went there and it's good fun for whomever gets bragging rights for the year.

I. Hate. Baylor.

I hope we flood the brazos with tears this weekend. The RGIII started the hate for me, Warden solidified it.
As much as I hate to admit it, I almost don't mind it whenever RG calls a game. He just loves the game of football, and you can hear his excitement, no matter who's playing. I've even heard him be highly complimentary of the Frogs in any game he's called.

He's not my favorite announcer, but I don't want him to die in a fire, either.

scheiss that! I hate baylor! I always will hate baylor. Short of Jesus coaching them, I hate their coach, too. The rivalry is deep. If not for you, for many others. I want the Frogs to win all of their games, but it can only be one, it better be the yellow and green pukes. That is all…

Reminding Baylor that Fred Taylor was 4-0 against you in his entire career at TCU (spelled UNDEFEATED). Now, Fred couldn't say that about Rice (3-1). There should be a sign detailing this fact at all BlueFlower games.

That game for me is (was) Texas. Baylor to me is kinda like SMU...been competitive in recent memory but overall not that good.

If you had asked me that five years ago, hell yes I'd be right there with you. But watching GMFP exchange pleasantries with Rhule and Gorf (or whatever the scheiss that interim head coach was after the warden) and now with Aranda (his story is pretty inspiring), I just can't bring myself to any more. It also helps that they have fallen back into obscurity to a certain degree since the warden left.

I've stated before one of the MAIN reasons I hated baylor was because I lived in waco for three years, and it was the longest decade of my life. God I hate that place with the fire of a thousand suns.

I’ve told this before, but I was raised near Waco, and down that way in Baptist country you have baylor pushed on you quite often. Well, I hated that place then, and that hate has grown over the years. Too bad they are having a down year or so. So are we this year.
I’ve always said don’t kick a dog when it’s down unless that dog is named baylor.

I am way younger than 40. I didn’t attend TCU. I have just been a fan since I was a kid. Regardless of these things I hate Baylor with a passion and every year this is the game I care more about. I don’t hate SMU but I do enjoy the rivalry and will be sad when we stop playing them. Same way I feel about tech.

Go frogs! I hope they run up the score if they have the ability to do so.
