Which TCU Horned Frogs made the Sporting News All-America teams?​

The Sporting News, celebrating 140 years of publishing, has re-released its All-America teams for every decade going back to the 1960s, and two Horned Frogs made the list. Who are they?

Defensive lineman Bob Lily, who played at TCU from 1958-1960, made the list for the 1960s. Ladainian Tomlinson, who played from 1997-2000, made the list for the 2000s.

Inducted into the TCU Hall of Fame in 1976, Lily led the Horned Frogs to two SWC championships and made a Cotton Bowl before becoming the first franchise pick of the Dallas Cowboys, then the Dallas Texans.

Yes. The NFL did not approve Hunt’s Dallas Texans so he moved it to KC and formed the AFL. The NFL then granted Dallas a franchise and they became the Cowboys. Separate organizations and Lilly was the first Cowboys draft pick.

Yes. The writer made an error. The cowboys were never the Texans.
Jim Swink played briefly for the Texans while he attended medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas.

Also interesting that the Star-Telegram doesn’t know how to spell Mr. Cowboy’s name.

Guess it would be expecting too much for the Telegram to include a picture of all-time great Bob "Lily" alongside the one with LT.
