FWST: When evaluating coach Jamie Dixon, be sure to check the records at both TCU and Pittsburgh

I also dont get where some may say TCU does not care about basketball.
You don't send folks to the tourney 3 years straight and have your ladies go through one of the biggest turnarounds in history without some serious support.

It is probably from seeing empty seats during conference play for a team that is fighting to make the tournament. If we had a really bad team, think how bad attendance would have been.

yeah, this ^^^^^^

has there been people actually calling for his job or something? that would seem a bit crazy and forgetting of very good recent history.
I don’t mean to harp on this but zero seasons with a winning conference record is not very good. It’s very average to poor.

The rebuilding year is not excuse. This is the same result we get every year.

I would argue that the Big 12 is tougher than the Big East.

Is making three straight NCAA tournaments for the first time very average to poor? Can you name another TCU coach to do that?

I suspect we will lose a lot to the Portal. These young guys will blame Dixon/TCU for being lousy players. Then Dixon should use the Mark Campbell model for recruiting. Maybe Van Lith could do some seminars on how to shoot and how to dribble to the basket.

What is TCU basketball? Had some good years. Had some terrible years. Dixon has been steady. I don’t think with him TCU will ever be a major contender, but I also don’t think it’ll be terrible. Who in all honesty do you think TCU could hire today that would be better? Is TCU a stepping stone job for that person? I’ll take Dixon over many!

DMC is a disaster of an arena. It was poorly designed from the start. If you’re going to build a new arena design something that is focused on court sports and not multi-use.

People forget TCU was a stepping-stone for Dixon too. But Donati prevented him from taking the UCLA job.

Now we are just stuck in constant mediocrity with Dixon's old school philosophies.

We should hang banners for our NCAA tournament appearances since the bar is set so low around here.

I was thinking this year was a rebuild, so I think JD might deserve some grace here.

That said, and this is about the article title, what he did at Pittsburgh has nothing to do with what he does here. His job eval is on his time at TCU. And I'm sure Jaime would be the first to tell folks that.
Read the article. It’s not about comparing what he did at Pitt vs what he’s done at TCU. It’s about what Pitt has done since he left, which is very little.

That’s what a lot of you are missing in this thread. Did this season end poorly? For sure. And it’s not looking good in the game going on now (down 9 with 6:26 to go). But what is the alternative? Don’t assume it’s greener pastures. Take a look at what we’ve done with CJD compared to before… spoiler - it wasn’t pretty.

CJD is one of the higher paid coaches in CBB. Would expect results to match more closely to the pay. Otherwise, just find a cheaper coach and put the savings into NIL

I get what your saying, Rex, but all that matters is what he does here, as far as TCU goes.
Just really hard to complain, considering what he has done over the past few years ... that you also illude to.
When I first saw the article title I thought, "please tell me folks have not gone off the rails and put him on the hot seat."

We must be unburden by what has been. Wake me when he actually does something in the tournament.

The NIT should be fun after losing to a ridiculous CU team.

I agree with you. The second part of my comment was general frustration over other comments here, not particularly the one of yours that I quoted.

All I know is I was getting drug through divorce and I was able to watch my Frogs in the NCAA Tourney and win a game and it was a welcomed and needed change of mood. :)
So I'm appreciative of what CJD has done.

I get ya.

It's like when people bag on the arena. I like our arena. But I also liked it when I lived in Clark Hall. And that's when a homeless guy got through the window and was hiding from the weather for two nights in that corner area on first floor. So take that for what it's worth.
