FWST: When evaluating coach Jamie Dixon, be sure to check the records at both TCU and Pittsburgh

I’m not on the fire Dixon wagon but if he does leave or is let go then I think, and I know some will berate me perhaps, that a serious run needs to be made to convince Campbell to switch to men’s ball. He seems to be able to recruit extremely well and he’s shown he can coach super well thus far. And he already knows TCU. Just my two cents.

Didn’t TCU have a women’s basketball coach that did pretty well (not as well as Campbell) leave for a men’s assistant’s job at a BigTen school? Petersen?

Coach wanted to move to the men’s side.

What became of him (professionally)? Assuming I’m not remembering something that didn’t happen.

Losing that game is a fireable offense.

9th season in a row without a winning conference record. People are okay with this?
The school really doesn’t care about basketball. Not many fans do either.

OT why do I have to quote someone before I can post?

So let's keep paying a guy for poor results.

If I mail it in at my job, I hope my boss doesn't care and lets me just hang around.

This year was a massive rebuild. The freshmen show promise. See if Jamie can develop them and add some pieces. Used to be easier to do. Now it takes money.
It was a re-build because so many players flew the coop. We can't "rebuild" every year.

I am also somewhat disheartened that so many kids leave TCU and go someplace else, and have The Best Year Evar! [ What the heck? ] are we doing wrong that kids who come to TCU can't shoot, can't make simple free throws, and turn the ball over, yet the minute they leave they are All Conference?

Why does the Men's Team have a Reverse Haley Van Lith thing going on?

@BrewingFrog - Peavey and Coles left for bigger paychecks, I guess. So it comes down to how much money do we have; and how much are we willing to pay who among the current roster and transfers. (Miller, Nelson, Tennyson and Cork were all out of eligibility.)
Now Reynolds, White and Wenzel have aged out. Reynolds is the key loss. Hopefully we get Collins back.
But we clearly need bigger bodies and better shooting.

Not sure to be honest. Sorry I’m not much help there.

Not being argumentative, but that doesn’t explain why the majority of players that leave here become all-conference level players. The freshmen were highly touted, and the transfers were quite productive at their last schools…now they they’re shooting 30% against the worst team in the conference. If we’re going to stick with Dixon (which I’m good with), he needs to surround himself with a younger, more creative staff.

Like FroggleRock above, I have to wonder why anyone would be piling sacks of money in front of guys whose work was sub-par for P5. Either somebody saw something that needed just a little tweak to show improvement, or the kids just found an opportunity they liked.

Money-whipping happens to kids who are good.
But we clearly need bigger bodies and better shooting.
That is the Great Mystery: Why can't the Frogs hit water if they fell out of a boat? Does our Staff somehow excel at teaching kids how NOT to shoot? The results darned sure look like it...

It truly pains me, because I like Dixon! Went to TCU with him, was standing in DMC when he hit The Shot lo these many years ago. I want that guy to succeed at TCU, and I'm monstrously disappointed that things have not gone his way so often. He is respected amongst other coaches, and clearly knows his stuff. But for a rank screwing by game Officials he would have had another Sweet 16. Yet it is just "missed it by that much" and heartache, again and again.

I'm watching Furman v Wofford rn in the SoCon championship game. Guys lighting it up for both teams .. I mean, we can't get one of these cats to come be a shooter for our Big 12 team?

It was a disappointing year and it was tough to watch at times. But that is what happens during rebuilding years. A lot of people are acting like CJD has done nothing here. He just took us to three straight NCAA tourneys and that has never been done before. Never.

I want to see the young guys get coached up, but I wish CJD would shake up his staff & change the offense to help them. But it may not matter as college hoops is all about NIL & we are on the short end of that. I do know that it is very weak to run a coach off right after we stopped him from taking his dream job.

Doubtful Collins is coming back considering he was honored on senior night.
Wish he would come back.

I was thinking this year was a rebuild, so I think JD might deserve some grace here.

That said, and this is about the article title, what he did at Pittsburgh has nothing to do with what he does here. His job eval is on his time at TCU. And I'm sure Jaime would be the first to tell folks that.

Coming off three straight NCAA appearances. First time in TCU history. I can allow a rebuilding year for Jamie Dixon.
yeah, this ^^^^^^

has there been people actually calling for his job or something? that would seem a bit crazy and forgetting of very good recent history.
