The TCU and North Carolina football teams will take a trip across the pond for their season-opening clash in 2026 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, and one travel company is offering a curated weeklong trip for fans looking to explore Ireland. This is the first time EF Go Ahead Tours has offered a public tour based around a sporting event.

The company has previously put together private trips for clients. Lael Kassis, vice president of market innovation and development, explained why now was the time to create this tour.

“We specialize in cultural immersion and really getting travelers in-depth knowledge of destinations, focused on meeting locals, interactive activities,” Kassis said. “We really wanted to bring more options to the general public. Instead of just doing customized requests, we wanted to actually give a really exciting opportunity to take one of our tours to Ireland and match it with actually one of the college football games that are happening in Dublin. ... We know that international travel is complicated, and we take care of all the details for people, from flights to transportation, hotels, guides, meals.”

Ireland is the one place where you don’t need any pre-planning, IMO. There a few “check them out if you‘re nearby” touristy sights, but by and large, the people and the countryside are the attraction. Pack a bag and fly to Dublin. Rent a car and throw a dart at the map every couple of days. B&Bs are plentiful and even small towns have a tourist office that will hook you up. You’ll have a great trip.

Looked him up and turns out it was the statue right in front of our hotel last summer. I remember it because the fro stood out. Not very familiar with Thin Lizzy, obviously, other than the one song.
Easily one of the most underrated bands in the US. I suggest listening to the following albums: Chinatown, Black Rose, Jailbreak, Thunder and Lightning. Also Renegade and Johnny the Fox.

You can stay in Dublin for a few days and have a great time. The west coast of Ireland is gorgeous and everywhere is a short train ride from Dublin. I also really liked Belfast (visit the museum in City Hall) and the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.

Which package? I'm on the verge of going that route. They don't have flights that mirror their hotel packages though which seems sketchy.
We’re signed up for one of the 9-night packages here: https://onlocationexp.com/college-sports/tcu-ireland

We haven’t booked our flights yet. Still trying to figure out logistics, which may include arriving at one city and returning home from another.

As for On Location- they’re legit. We used them for the Fiesta Bowl and NCG.

Hummm. Thanks. I need to make a choice soon.

Just looking around the board there appears to be some other homegrown options from a Clark Board member doing her thing and EF Go Ahead Tours mentioned in this story. I'm going to do some looking around and vetting.

I like the London/Dublin package OnLocation is selling but it has been an adventure reading the fine print and trying to figure out how to get to and from the location either on my own or through them.

We'll see. This is an excuse to finally see the U.K. but I kind of like an option that's more "group travel-esque."

UPDATE: The Clark Board member's tour was probably the best option but no one signed up for it so she's called it off. Bummer.

The first concert I attended as a 14 yo was a Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Def Leppard triple header around 1980. Judas was the headliner. Def Leppard debut with a 15 YO drummer and literally caused concern among the audience whether the venue could hold up to the raucous applause. Thin Lizzy came on and finished with an encore "Cowboy Song" Although there was only about 8k in the crowd, the seating started to shift and fall because of the screaming and movement from the crowd. Fire marshals were called in 15 min delay and they did another encore of "The Cowboy Song" Judas almost caused the same commotion.

I will spare all of you about my take on American Football abroad.

I have several friends who have highly recommended Black Rose & Johnny the Fox. Thank You.

I was always a mod moderate as a teen on the THC, but partook during this concert and Fleetwood
Mac, Rush, Kansas, Journey, Styx and others.

What does this have to do with TCU in Ireland??? Very little. It does have something to do with very good friends who enjoyed Ireland, Portugal and Prague in the 90s and are disappointed now with the aforementioned. Check out the Portugal trainlines. Sad Sad Sad today.

I brought it up because there’s a statue of Phil Lynott in Dublin
