Three takeaways from TCU men's basketball game at Utah

TCU men’s basketball dropped its fourth straight game as the Horned Frogs’ comeback attempt in Utah came up short in an 82-79 loss to the Utes on Saturday afternoon.

It was a disappointing showing for the Horned Frogs (11-7, 1-4) as they picked up a bad loss for their NCAA Tournament resume. The Utes (9-9, 1-4) had been winless in Big 12 play before Saturday.

Despite trailing by as many as 14 in the first half, TCU had a chance to pull off a stunner late as a three-point play by Xavier Edmonds cut the Horned Frogs’ deficit to 69-67 with 3:23 remaining.

The Dixon time has run its course. Like him, appreciate him, but consistently mediocre seasons is not what TCU mens BB should settle for. And yes, I have been around TCU sports nearly 50 years, so I remember "what it used to be like".

I agree completely. Dixon is a first class guy, but these last few years have been such a disappointment. Same mistakes, same lack of development. Not sure if the game has passed him by, or he is just tired, or its the NIL/portal crap in college sports, but things have clearly changed for the worse.
I really hope he announces his retirement after this season or perhaps there is a "front office" position he can transition to?
Dixon is one of our TCU legends....as a player and as a coach. We need to handle this transition in a way that he and his family deserve.....not the jackass way we moved on from CGP.

Just go get a couple of NBA players. Work out a side million dollar deal with them. These days, who's going to stop us?

Our guard play is killing us the last 4 games. Here are the stats:

Harding 13-37 FG (4-19 3-point) 28 assists 8 turnovers 8.xx points a game

Pierre 15-32 (6-14 3s) 15 assists 5 turnovers 10 points a game.

That is not good enough in the Big 12.

I think a change is not without merit but I don’t think we move on from Jamie. There just isn’t enough of a feeling to fire JD because he represents the U well and the money it would take. The admin doesn’t care if we are a top 25 team or not.

If we were serious we would go after Jarrod Calhoun, Eric Olen or Josh Schertz. We aren’t so we would probably end up with a mid tier coach who won’t do any better than JD.

If you are a casual basketball fan, which most TCU fans are, you are understandably disappointed with where we are. If you are a hard core basketball fan you understand that TCU has ZERO centers playing on this team. Everybody is performing as expected, there are just no 7 footers to provide the “big” minutes needed to finish games. Sad but bottom line, coaches are paid to produce.
