OMAHA, Neb. -- On a bright, cool afternoon in February, just days before TCU's baseball season opener, former Horned Frogs standout Lance Broadway stood watching from the dugout.

As the 2010 team made its way onto the field for practice, Broadway spotted a tall, lanky kid with his cap [ James'd ] slightly off to the right of his head.

"Who's that with his hat on crooked?" asked Broadway, who holds the school pitching records for wins (15), innings (117) and strikeouts (151) in a season (all in 2005). "If I was still on the team, we'd have a talk with our freshman." ...

Purke feeds off the emotion from jeers in the stands, such as the Longhorns fan behind TCU's dugout last weekend who repeatedly shouted, "You'll never see that money again!"Purke finally poked his head above the dugout and offered a retort.

"Look, you're not going to see that money, either. So neither of us should really be worried about it," Purke said.

One great article on the Purke-a-lator and his family.

The link copied when I copied the quote. I just left it. I didn't know if it's a new board feature or if I fat fingered the copy/paste.

By that Holaday means Purke is comfortable with who he is and the decisions he has made, including attending TCU.

Yeah, looks like if you copy a quote (at least from this article) it automatically adds the link when you paste it.

Yeah, if you copy any portion of a Star-Telegram article it automatically attaches the link back to the full article. I don't know how long they've been doing that, but it is not hard to remove at least.

"That makes it all worth it," he said. "We made history. These are people and moments I'll never forget for the rest of my life. I'm so excited I got to be a part of it. I'll be in touch with these guys for the rest of my life."

Great stuff, amazing that at 19/20 years old he already realizes this

Taunting is part of the game, I thought. Not that over the top, I thought. But Purke's retort was great!

I remember back in the 60's, whoever was playing third for the other team caught hell from that section of the bleachers. I remember playing the aggies, the aggies were up to bat, and someone yelled: "Hey, think of your roommate!"
