His kids. His TCU Horned Frogs, 16 freshmen strong, who had just felled the rich and mighty giant.

On what has to be the most memorable Thanksgiving night in the school's 117 years of football, TCU outfought, outplayed, outcoached and outshined a flat, mistake-prone Texas Longhorns team Thursday night 20-13.

This is what TCU fans, coaches and players have been begging for - a chance to prove it on the biggest stage, but Gary's right: The Frogs have been there before.

All the Horn fans I encountered were gracious and complimentary, but one episode was especially telling. It was early in the fourth quarter, and while washing my hands in the bathroom an Orangeblood at the sink next to me said, "Boy, you guys came to play, tonight."

I said, "The Cockroaches have returned." He howled with laughter and responded, "If you guys can pull this off I guess this would be your biggest win in a very long time, huh?"

I just looked at him and said, "Oh, I don't know - I think the Rose Bowl was fairly significant."

He laughed again, slapped me on the back and walked away muttering, "The Cockroaches have returned..."

Go Frogs!
