Kenny Cain wants to take Area 51 to the next level.

The former TCU linebacker, who will be eligible for April's NFL Draft, hopes to prove to scouts this winter that he's big enough to play outside linebacker in the NFL.

His journey begins tonight at the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game at Kino Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.

Area 51 is more than a nickname for Cain, who wore No. 51 with the Frogs and led the team in tackles the past two seasons. It's a state of mind. ...

The last 2 paragraphs exemplify whyI'm so glad that GP is leading this program.

....
"The person I am and the passion I have for the game and the sacrifices I'm willing to make" are because of TCU, he said. "I always thought there's no one out there working as hard as me or who wanted to win more than me until I met Gary Patterson. He's a winner. He'll teach you about football, but at the same time he'll teach you about life."

Christmas morning, while TCU prepared for its final game in Scottsdale, Ariz., Cain texted Patterson Christmas wishes. The coach replied, "Merry Christmas Area 51."

Well written article!

Curious to see his 40 time when he runs for the scouts. He was able to cover some very fast/talented backs in the Big 12. That could go a long way in offsetting some of the size issues.

I think his speed/size is a great fit in a 4/3 D. He has the ability to actually play good pass coverage. Atleast, a 3rd down role. Who can argue with a starting senior coming out of Linebacker U!

I hope Kenny makes it. I think he'll run a 4.6-4.7 looking at him on film. If he doesn't I hope he comes back as a GA. I think he would make a great LB coach down the road. Has the personality to be an amazing recruiter as well.

Just think in 15 years when GP retires with his 4 NC rings :), our coaching staff will be

HC- Andy Dalton, who after a stellar NFL career joins staff as QB coach in 2024 and is promoted to OC in 2026 and HC in 2028.
OC/QB- Tyler Matthews
DC- Chad Glasgow
RB- Matthew Tucker
WR- Bart Johnson
OL- Jake Kirpatrick
DL- Ross Forrest
LB- Kenny Cain
S- Tejay Johnson
CB- Brian Alexis
S&C- Blaize Foltz
TE/ST- Dan Sharp, he'll never retire

I'd never heard of the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game, and it's not clear that they have heard of Cain.
Since he doesn't appear on the roster for the came.
