TCU women’s basketball lands another transfer from a Big 12 rival​

TCU women’s basketball has landed another transfer-portal commitment.

The Horned Frogs on Saturday landed their fourth transfer with the addition of Utah freshman guard Avery Hjelmstad.

Hjelmstad announced her commitment on social media.

The 6-foot-1 freshman averaged 5.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game for the Utes this past season. Hjelmstad averaged 14.1 minutes in 31 games and also started once for Utah. She scored three points and grabbed three rebounds in Utah’s 87-77 overtime win against TCU on Jan. 3.

Sports boards are saying Mulkey asked for more money and was denied. School budget, revenue sharing allocation and alumni are tapped after Kelly buyout, Kiffin deal and NIL splurge. Kim’s $3.5mm salary doesn’t help. Message board chatter so who knows what’s real.
