TCU swept the Mountain West Conference tennis championships on Saturday in Las Vegas.

The Horned Frogs beat San Diego State 4-3 in both divisions.

It was the fifth league title for the men.

The women, meanwhile, won their second consecutive championship.

It is the 19th time in the past 20 years the men will have played in the NCAA Tournament.

Emanuel Brighiu, Zach Nichols and Christopher Price won singles matches. Brighiu-Christopher Price and Paul Chappell-Nichols won doubles matches.

"Frankly, I have never gone through an up-and-down year like this season," men's coach Dave Borelli said. "We lost so many close matches.

"We had a team meeting after we got embarrassed by New Mexico and we talked about what we had to do to turn this thing around. We decided not to put any pressure on ourselves and just go out and see what we could do."

The NCAA Tournament is set for May 14-16.

In the women's division, Kayla Duncan beat Julia Wais 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), clinching the conference championship for TCU.

Duncan also combined with Katarina Tuohimaa for a doubles victory.

Gaby Mastromarino and Nina Munch-Soegaard of TCU won singles matches.

"Our kids are all heart and you never underestimate the heart of a champion," women's coach Jefferson Hammond said. "I'm so proud of this team. It's just amazing the guts, stamina, perseverance and discipline that they possess."
