FWST: TCU football will play Louisiana in the New Mexico Bowl. Fans aren’t happy.

Yeah having public beef with bowl officials is idiotic. Part of the job is putting aside ego and kissing asses, and I think that’s a big part where Donati fell short. He seemed to pick a lot of fights with people he should have been swooning (I.e. bowl officials, boosters/donors, alumni, letterman, etc). And that comment definitely applies to the department as a whole too.
It was kinda odd. He was a great money guy for so long. Maybe he saw the need to make sure TCU was not thrown off track by some good ole boys or something? (Avoid the Aggie trap or something)
Maybe he just needed the change. Just seems off the last 2 years.

i felt offended k-state got stuck with rutgers until i saw who tcu drew. good grief, why not aTm, missouri, nebraska, ou, or any interesting foe? suspect there are some backroom vetoes at play.

There are still a lot of donors that are upset about how he handled Patterson and won't let it go. Hopefully him moving on will allow everyone to be happy and ready to overpay high school kids.

I don't get the anonymous reporting that is trying to walk back the blame our former AD is receiving for this bowl selection. He's on the record several times—including public comments a few weeks ago—about how much he despises the Liberty Bowl, there was only one group of bowl representatives that attended our home games this season—typically there are several—and the AD didn't appear to campaign hard for TCU's post season selection. No one is willing to go on record explaining how this process played out. The failure is on the Athletic Department.
He must've hooked up with a BMD's wife in Memphis or something.

Or maybe he got rejected by a BMD's wife in Memphis, hence why he had a bad experience...

So it turns out it was a brilliant move to tell the Liberty Bowl to take a flying leap. The Tech (Big12) section costs $120 a ticket, to sit in a construction zone. Tech fans are royally pissed. I think you have to go to the endzones to reach a bathroom or a concession stand. The under renovation area it totally blown up.

@StinnettFrog should be able to confirm or not as I think he was planning on going due to his nephew playing for Tech.

I'm pretty sure we're going to learn the whole sordid tale within a few days. As soon as Donati is gone, tongues will begin to wag.

Another point: Just how long has Donati been gone? By this, I mean, how long has he been signed and secure in the S.C. gig? Because as soon as that was a certainty, he had mentally checked out of TCU and was doing nothing but looking forward to new digs and new horizons. Just how much, if anything, did that have to do with this Bowl fiasco? (IMHO, not much.)

To me the biggest red flag was the utter lack of bowl representatives present at home games throughout the season.
