FWST: TCU football will play Louisiana in the New Mexico Bowl. Fans aren’t happy.

I'm sure most of you have seen this but Sonny's post game speech, that starts @ about the 12:20 mark, references a "great" bowl game. Didn't quite turn out that way.

Not complaining about the bowl selection as I think it actually works out well for the team and as a nice step in the process towards 2025. A little more time to work on the defense and the returning offensive players.

I agree and I don’t really think there is that much difference opponent strength wise as Arkansas for example is very mediocre (just a bigger name). I do hope the new AD learns from this, and we can’t be thinking we are too good for certain bowl games..

Given the horrible start to our season, I would normally be happy with any bowl game we made it to. The location sucks, for sure, but I could live with that too.

What bothers me is that we are not playing a team from another P4 conference. We play UL, but Tech plays Arkie; KSU plays Rutgers; and BU plays LSU???

I have no idea who is at fault, but this is an outright embarrassment to TCU and to the football team.

This game will be an easy one to lose....causing still more embarrassment. UL will be fired up about playing a team that was in the national championship game 2 years ago. It'll be a miracle if Sonny can get our players motivated to play in this joke of a game. UL has nothing to lose; we have everything to lose.

This should be a real wake up call to Pullin that he better make a solid choice for the next AD.
I am sure that it bothers all of us. Who we should focus on blaming is probably the coaching staff.
We beat only one team with a winning record and lost to Houston and UCF AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Baylor, Tech, and KSU all beat more teams with a winning record.

We got skipped over because we were not that good. We aren't. We have talent, but as a full 60-minute team that should put people away, we are not that team anymore. It is hard to accept. I hate it.

We better get some receivers and Oline and Dline if we want to compete.

Did we get skipped over? Why is no one on this board talking about the stuff I'm hearing everywhere else?

After you see the seats the Big 12 is getting this year in the under construction Liberty Bowl, this might have been a good year to skip.

It doesn’t make sense. Both the Liberty and Rate Bowls invite 7th and 8th place teams respectively over a 6th place TCU.
I’m just guessing, but it sounds to me like the Frogs DID reject the Liberty Bowl; then they got shunned as a reprisal by the remaining B12/Bowls.
If they had a good reason, fine. Let’s hear it.

We've been spoiled for years with P4-5 competition in bowl games.

We used to be the perennial 10-win G5 team hoping for a chance to play a power conference team in a bowl game. ULL's won 10+ games in 4 of the last 6 seasons. We are their first Power conference matchup in a bowl game. Happy for ULL to get their shot. We need to do our job and put them in their place.

I'm not sure there were great bowl game options this year regardless for us. BUT, as others have said, the play on the field was not up to snuff for half the year, and it is what it is. I hope we beat ULL. They may be way more up for this game than our guys, and we will be missing some key players. All this moaning and groaning is great bulletin board material for them.

Everything you said is true.
It‘s a very dangerous game for TCU. One team will show up excited to play with a chip on their shoulder, and the other will be wondering why the heck they’re in New Mexico

I for one am pretty scheissin tired of being push around by a bunch of know it all execs and TV broadcasters. Let’s go to the Breaking Bad Bowl, kick the dog [ Finebaum ] out of the Louisiana mother scheissers and come back to the Fort with another scheissin trophy.

Hey. Only heresy and fifth party rumors allowed. Logic has no place in the NM Bowl thread.
