TCU football will play Louisiana in the New Mexico Bowl. Fans aren’t happy.

By Steven Johnson

The TCU football team is headed to Albuquerque for the postseason.

On Sunday, the Horned Frogs were selected to play in the New Mexico Bowl at University Stadium on the campus of New Mexico. TCU will face Louisiana on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 1:15 p.m. CST on ESPN.

The Horned Frogs will enter bowl season as one of the hottest teams in the country with five wins in their final six games and an 8-4 regular-season record.

My take from this?
  • We're not as big on the Big 12 stage as some of us think we are.
  • Other bowls picked teams that they believed would travel better.
  • It came down to us choosing between the Servpro Bowl as a Big 12 tie in and the NM Bowl as an ESPN at large bowl (last option).
  • The bowls can choose anyone they want out of the eligible pool. They apparently thought TTU, KSU and Baylor would travel better and maybe they promised selling larger ticket allotments.
  • If we had gone to the Liberty Bowl they would still be people bitching about something.

We have always followed our team well to bowl games. That is not a reason.

No, it was more that we didn't have a strong internal advocate.

Given the horrible start to our season, I would normally be happy with any bowl game we made it to. The location sucks, for sure, but I could live with that too.

What bothers me is that we are not playing a team from another P4 conference. We play UL, but Tech plays Arkie; KSU plays Rutgers; and BU plays LSU???

I have no idea who is at fault, but this is an outright embarrassment to TCU and to the football team.

This game will be an easy one to lose....causing still more embarrassment. UL will be fired up about playing a team that was in the national championship game 2 years ago. It'll be a miracle if Sonny can get our players motivated to play in this joke of a game. UL has nothing to lose; we have everything to lose.

This should be a real wake up call to Pullin that he better make a solid choice for the next AD.

Can our KF writers find out what "really" happened? Haven't seen a word from anyone.
startle telesham took TCU spokesreps word for it. "Nothing to see here"

Odds are they gambled for a different bowl and messed up. we have two teams playing against each other in the Alamo Bowl. For us to not get a p4 opponent is not remotely normal. Especially when it frees up a spot and were we were in conf standings.
