FWST: TCU faces more uncertainty at quarterback after Chandler Morris injury

He also had that throw across the middle to Hudson.

Max had one throw that wasn’t a jet sweep I think, and he short hopped it about 5 feet short of the receiver in the flat. I’m not trying to dog on Max, but when it comes to running the passing game, I think Chandler is clearly more skilled. That being said, Max’s running game is a real threat that shouldn’t be overlooked. I actually love the idea of rotating him in like a poor man’s Caysom Hill.

At least he didn't over throw him by 25 yards.
I don't understand this revered status Max has gained over the years. Maybe it is because all of his backups in the past were so cringe worthy people just settled for Max starting at quarterback.

Here is a certainty for you…first half = 67 yards. 7-points from a punt return. A QB that couldn’t hit his center’s butt. Vaunted Colorado blanked our offense.

…second half = 400 yards. 31-points from the offense, while injured “starter” wept on the bench, all points from second and third QBs.

IMHO one certainty remains…Chandler Morris.is not our best starting QB.

This is factually incorrect. Chandler played through the 3rd quarter and we were up 17-6 when Max took over.

I feel like some of you are acting like Max came in and threw for 400 yards or something, when in reality he barely threw the ball passed the line of scrimmage. He may end up being better than Chandler this season, I have no idea, but I just didn’t see anything in the Colorado game that convinced me one way or another that our coaches are wrong.

Yeah I feel like some people need to go back and rewatch the game. Chandler got the offense going in the 3rd quarter, both passing and running, then Max came in and we just continued to run it down their throats.

not possible, the team's spirit was broken until max entered the game and rallied the frogs to the come from behind victor

you and ron are obviously misrepresenting because there is no way a chandler morris' led offense scored on consecutive series to start the second half

They all played well at QB ... staff might want to bring back Battle for QB reps ... for added depth.
Max is a warrior. Plain and simple. That makes up for a lot of QB "sins" IMO.

He may be "the best of the rest" and that's all. Maybe Chandler is our future. O.K. Heal fast!

But there's no reason to dis Max.

(Is that Pardee boy still on the roster...maybe he's the future? His granddad was a really good guy back in the '70s with the 'Skins. His daughter was at TCU in the late '70s.)

I trust that our new coaching staff went with Morris over Duggan due to performance in fall camp and it was warranted.

It seems that Chandler Morris is injury prone- going down twice in his last 2 outings if my memory serves. Maybe he comes back soon and lasts the season and produces wonderfully, but I'm skeptical he's just not durable. I will always be grateful for his great performance in the win against Big 12 champion Baylor. I sincerely hope I'm wrong as the kid seems to be a big game performer.

With a quarterback who can effectively throw, this team will be unstoppable.

fixed it for you and i don't care who it is playing quarterback, but they MUST be able to effectively throw the football

frogs have plenty of players who can carry the ball, the need a quarterback who can threaten defenses throwing the football and legs alone isn't going to get it done. max in the last two seasons as a starter is 10-9

Is Chandler a one game wonder? He needs to stay healthy for us to find out but I just cannot see him making it through 9 straight Big 12 games with no off weeks and no injuries......3 starts and 2 injuries, a small sample but it is concerning. Get Jackson ready and when he is, he will replace Max. So far in limited time, Jackson is hard to get a clean shot at and he prefers to run out of bounds vs going down the middle of the field but all the QBs need to perfect the Andy Slide.

With our defense last year, Troy Aikman would have struggled to have a winning year.

Agree. If we can't accurately throw the ball up to QJ in a variety of situations, then we are one dimensional. Only throwing passes that are extensions of the run game are not what we need.

Settle down about Jackson. He is a good runner but throwing abilities are unknown at best. He will be able to prove himself in time. He is not the second coming yet.
