FWST: TCU baseball undone by Oklahoma’s fifth-inning rally

From staff and online reports

NORMAN, Okla. — It took three opponents and five games for TCU to give up nine runs in the previous eight days. On Tuesday night, Oklahoma matched that total in a mere six innings en route to a 9-5 nonconference victory at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Horned Frogs’ Trey Teakell gave up three runs on four hits in two innings in his first start of the season. Alex Young came on in relief and also gave up three runs in two innings.

TCU (12-8) took the lead in the top of the first when Kevin Cron scored on a wild pitch by the Sooners’ Connor Buchmann. But OU (16-5) answered in the bottom half as Hunter Haley doubled with one out and scored on Sheldon Neuse’s double.

With TCU trailing 3-2 in the fifth, Cron doubled, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Derek Odell’s single to tie the score.
But the Sooners roared back in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs via a double, a pair of singles and a passed ball.
