TCU’s risk to sell its home game to ESPN is a disaster move for fans and school​

WRITER’S NOTE: The following has zero to do with TCU’s revoking the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s credentials to cover TCU athletic events. This too shall pass.

Saturday was the first game for TCU head coach Sonny Dykes since he signed a contract extension in the spring, when the school did him a huge favor by handing him more money despite the fact that it was negotiating against itself.

Sonny Dykes loves this job, this town, and Auburn wasn’t hiring him no matter how much his agent wanted to sell that empty threat.

His team rewarded the school, and its gamble to move its season opener across the Atlantic Ocean, with an 0-1 start from a trash performance played before a nationwide TV audience.

TCU had every chance to win the game, but opted out as North Carolina upset TCU, 15-10.

We have now moved three home games to neutral sites. We are now 0-3. Good or bad there really are not any in the future with even a chance of being moved. As a long time season ticket holder, I am tried of getting screwed.

Sometimes in life you’ve got to give the devil his due even if he sticks you with a pitchfork. I don’t like Mack but everything he said was right.

I never felt good about this game being moved for a lot of reasons when it was announced around a year ago. I for one am glad I went with my instincts and did not make the trip to Ireland.

Hopefully, the people behind moving the game to Ireland that called the game a win before the game was played get a little bit of humility and realize that it is not a good idea to trade a likely win for a chance to get more money. They also need to learn it is not a good idea to take season tickets holders and students for granted. They are the biggest supporters and provide a critical home field advantage.

Maybe it was posted on here as a joke, but the climate of the profe$$ional college junior NFL $port i$ $uch that Mexico, Brazil, or Venezuela (we now own it, afterall ) for international game$ is not so fancial a thought now....
