FWST: TCU’s offensive line eager to get back on track — or shake-up could be coming

This really ought to be 2012-2021. The pre-Dykes period is what we are talking about here. Then it looks like this:

1. OU - 107
2. OSU - 90
3. Baylor - 80
4. K-State - 78
5. TCU - 74
6. Texas - 70
7. WVU - 68
8. TT - 58
9. ISU - 54
10. KU - 18

I mean, that's kinda middle of the pack, isn't it? Just as many wins from being 7th out of 10 teams as we were from being 3rd. Outside of the magical '14 and '15 seasons, our average record was 6.4-5.6. Hell, Baylor had 6 more wins than us and they mixed in 1 and 2 win seasons.

Like I've said all along, this narrative that we were some kind of perennial national and Big 12 power pre-Dykes just is not true.
Now do this same exercise in the Dykes era and see where TCU stands. I think you'll find we'll be 2nd out of 16 teams instead of 5th out of 10. Explain to me this big underachieving thing to me again relative to the past?

No. It doesn't. Like I said before, Baylor, KState, and TCU were all pretty much lumped together there in a second tier with OSU. And again, you insist on marginalizing 2014 and 2015. I'll take '14, '15, '17 and '22 in a heartbeat over the better "average" of KState. FWIW, OSU didn't get enough credit for how good they were, either.

So I ask again...who are the 6 or 7 teams in the current B12 that are just soooooo much above us over the last 15 or so years that we need to downsize our expectations to nothing but mediocrity and a station in the middle of the B12?
I'm not marginalizing them at all, I'm including them in those win totals.

There aren't 6 or 7 teams that are soooooo much above us. But we aren't soooooo much above the other top half of the league either that we should be expecting CCG appearances every year or every other year.

NO ONE EXPECTS THIS! THIS IS SOME FALLACY, SOME STRAW-MAN ARGUMENT THAT YOU CONTINUALLY BRING UP CONSTANTLY AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY INSUFFERABLE!

lol, yeah, weird choice of words.

You should just put me on ignore like some others have. Would save you the agony.
That’s a very good point because quite honestly, you are one of the main reasons I’ve slowed my visits here. I try not to put anyone on ignore but my god are you one hell of a scheissing beating.

Dogfrog, not true.

I don't know when I joined but I remember thinking we were in going into the game against ISU. I sure as hell wasn't arguing that we didn't belong. When I walked out of the stadium that day I thought it was a cinch. Went over to a friend's house for a watching party to root on Wisconsin and Georgia Tech, and by the end of the night I knew we were gonna be out. My thing was just defending the committee, and I don't remember anyone really having an issue with the committee until that Sunday morning. Why would they have?
It was the period leading up to the four final picks. The reason I remember is because your argument was primarily about Ohio State deserved it so much more. That is why everyone assumed you were an Ohio State fan. I never thought that, just assumed you hated TCU, probably an SMU, Baylor, or Longhorn fan. The argument for Ohio State was reasonable. Just impossible IMO for an actual TCU fan to join here just to make that argument.

This thread is like watching a tennis match... And not a good one. Here's my take: we've only had a few decent years in the last decade with a ton of mediocre in that timeframe. GP lost it and we needed a chg. That AD wasn't very good and it hurt us bad with big $ folks. Sonny comes in and puts together a dream year (ignoring the horrible CCG), but the $ / support still isn't there. Then, he doubles down with a controversial hire (further creating a gap with big $ types). Sonny has to make changes or he's gone (my guess is next year if we see similar results). Do I think he got a fair shake? Not really. Too many "fans" pulling against him... But that doesn't matter. Only performance does.

Look at Tech, many on here are fantasizing over them this year and they've been more mediocre than we have over the years by a lot. Their coach is very average! The difference, their big $ decided enough is enough. I don't get it personally, I think it's a stupid investment, but that's just how it goes.
