FWST: Pitching, defense put TCU past Manhattan

Jason Coats' 10th-inning single with the bases loaded scored Derek Odell as TCU escaped with a 2-1 walk-off win against Manhattan on Friday night at Lupton Stadium.

Coats had two of the Horned Frogs' four hits as Jaspers starter Taylor Sewitt held TCU (24-15) to three hits and a run through nine innings.

"You have to tip your hat to their starting pitcher, he really mixed it up against us and kept hitters off-balance," Coats said of the sidearming senior. "I'm just glad we battled and played really good defense tonight."

Note: It's movie night at Lupton Stadium. The Bad News Bears (the classic original from 1976) will be shown on the scoreboard about 30 minutes after today's game. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to use on the field.
