Starkville is essentially the Lubbock of the SEC, unreal. I get wanting to change for certain reasons but man, make a better choice than that, sheesh.

Can anyone name a single good reason to leave for that job? Sheesh.
Hello. Mississippi State fan here. I come in peace. I just wanted to say a few good things about our program. I have seen a lot of negative things, and I hope you don't mind me sharing a few Mississippi State tidbits.

We have one of the top 5 fan bases in the country. Probably a top 3. Arguments an be made for the top fan base (I'd personally give that crown to LSU)

Not only do we have the largest on campus single game crowd at 15,586 in the NCAA....we have ALL of the top 14 largest crowds and 17 of the top 20. Legendary atmosphere here.

We will have the nicest stadium in the country. It's honestly not even anyone else in the discussion with us. Not bragging, but there will not be any thing remotely like it in college baseball. I won't go into a long winded description, but if you don't know already, but it's taking college baseball stadiums up to the next level. I think it will rival most AAA ballparks. That's going to help recruiting. What kid wouldn't want to play there?

Our AD. He was a baseball coach. He is VERY committed to baseball. Oh and he played and coached here. He played in a CWS and coached in a CWS here (head coach of a CWS runner up). And he's doing a damn good job, so we ain't getting rid of him and he ain't leaving. He is a baseball guy and he has bulldog in his blood.

play in the SEC. Baseball is bigger here. By a large margin. We do it big. Really big

The atmosphere in our stadium has always been considered one of the best. Virtually every list of best atmospheres and best stadiums have always had us near or at the top. ...and that was with the old stadium. With this new stadium it's very reasonable to think we can have the best atmospheres in college baseball bar none. That's going to help recruiting.

Now we do not have a national title, so we are not an elite program. But we are probably pretty well set in the next group of programs.

We are 13th all time in the NCAA in wins
We are 21 all time in NCAA in winning percentage
2nd in both all time SEC wins and Winning percentage
4th allme in SEC championship (11)
36 NCAA post season appearances
9 CWS appearances. And we have been pretty consistent
2 in the 70s
2 in the 80s
3 in the 90s
2 in the 2000s

We are not elite but we are a very good program. And with our facilities, Fan supports, financial commitment, AD support, conference, and histor.....all we need is an elite coach.

I honestly believe we are a sleeping giant. I can say this with certainty..... There isn't another program in the country that wants a title more than we do. Our adminstration wants it (just look at what we are building,) and our fans want it really really bad. Baseball is big here. It's important here. I don't have to words to properly explain the passion our fans have for baseball. But if you know about college baseball fanbases, I don't need to explain. You already know

That's a heck of a selling point. If you want to win titles, surround yourself with people who want it just as bad as you do.

Anyway. I hope nobody takes any offense to this. I am not bragging. I just think we have a lot to sell and wanted to set the record straight. Lots of people here seem to think we don't have much to offer. I humbly disagree.

And he could definitely want to stay at TCU. Absolutely a lot to offer from y'all. He has the program playing as good as anyone in the country. That's hard to do. Might not want to mess with a good thing.

Happy Memorial Day and thank you to all those that served and I hope those that gave all are resting peacefully.

At about 1/5 the size of Lubbock. That being said, I would move to SV in a heartbeat over Lubbock. I hated Lubbock all 3 times I have had to live there. Hate wind, blowing dirt, blowing snow, blowing wood etc etc.

Sorry, does not matter what the stadium looks like (why does/has LSU lead in attendance for 20 plus years), the school is easily in the worst town in the SEC and its not close. When I was a USAF IP at Columbus I could not believe the SEC had a school in a town like that. Not saying JS wont leave but it will be a HUGE adjustment for his family. I also cant believe JS would make his daughter switch schools for 1 year, maybe his wife would stay in Texas until next year. At te end of the day MSU will always be in SV, great people but awful town.

Well the only argument i see everyone here making for him to stay at TCU is the city. How many people at the top of their professions move to places their family may not like for the chance to better their career?

Our fanbase is much much larger and more passionate than TCU.
We actually care about baseball here. I am not convinced your administration and fans really care that much about baseball.
Mississippi state has a lot more history than TCU

Simply put. Overall Mississippi State is a better baseball program than TCU. I have never been to Ft Worth, so i will not comment on the city. I love small towns, so I love SV.

True on the city stuff, but then again, Starkville isn’t a city. It’s not like moving from Mobile to London. For what it’s worth, he can still get that same small town quality of life here if he chooses to have a 15-20 minute commute so that’s not really an argument.

Your fans may care about baseball more but the culture just seems very high school like at least when compared to Texas...and I’m going off more the football vibe so the baseball thing could be very different as you allude to. Not trying to be a jerk, just going off of what little I’ve seen of MSU fan culture and athletics.

I think he will face just as many challenges at MSU, just in a different setting.

I'm pretty sure over the last ten years or so, TCU is either inside the top 15 or top 10 in baseball attendance. We like to call it Lupton Magic. If it is just the stadium then I'm sure Boschini or Donati will find that one alum or a small group of hardcore TCU baseball frog supporting alums to make this stadium happen too. It is what we do!

Only in America can a coach have a tough season and this is the result. Schloss needs to be loyal to Fort Worth.

You definitely will have the nicest college only baseball stadium it sounds like - there are Programs like WVU and Creighton that play at as nice of stadiums but obviously those are shared.

However questioning the dedication of our school to baseball when we are the 3rd smallest in top 5 conferences and had to build our own facilities - unlike you guys that just took state money from casinos is pretty funny. It’s not like your alumni raised much of the $55 mil - you guys are basically the Aggy of Mississippi trying to buy your way into relevance.

I am guessing before our down year if you had asked college baseball fans who had the better program between us, you would have been disappointed in the answer.

The fact that my dog could get into MSU and the tuition costs reflect that will definitely help you recruting I guess - or it seems some of coaching staff thinks so. You will still have to convince kids to pick MSU over the other 50 programs with the same cost structure - many of which have better history, nicer campuses, better academics, etc.

Don’t be surprised if it takes more than just a coach and a shiny new building to be elite.

And I have been to Starkville a lot in my life - you need to get out more - even measuring it by small town standards.

Y'all don't care about it like we do. If you follow baseball you understand that.

Baseball may have a nice loyal follow at TCU, but baseball is big time in Starkville. It had been for a long time.

We started to growth of baseball in the SEC and NCAA. We were the first to build a really nice stadium, now that it's out of date, we are building the nicest stadium in college baseball.

Maybe I was a little smirky to say y'all don't care about baseball. I just have seen nothing but people trashing Mississippi State.

So i apologize for saying y'all don't care much....what I should have said is y'all don't care about baseball on the same level we do. Baseball is a big deal here. A really big deal

TCU fans are extremely passionate about their baseball team. Despite our small student body size (8K undergrad) and living alumni numbers, we’ve been the biggest fan base at almost every CWS the Frogs have made it to.

We don’t have the pure numbers that many bigger schools obviously have, but what we do have is extremely impressive given our size.

Miss St is a good program with a passionate fan base and a good history. Schloss is fed up with the tuition/scholarship situation so he’s going to start over somewhere else where he doesn’t have to deal with it (and has a new stadium).

I’ll take Saarloos and roll with him.

So you’re like A&M in football? Nice stadium. Large/passionate fan base. State money. Crappy town. Yup a lot like A&M.

We make fun of folks from Mississippi because the whole world makes fun of that state and it citizens. The jokes write themselves.
