FWST: Longhorns miss the A&M rivalry but glad Thanksgiving tradition continues

AUSTIN -- The Texas Longhorns are still getting used to their new Thanksgiving tradition.

Instead of facing rival Texas A&M, No. 18 Texas will host an old Southwest Conference foe and Big 12 newcomer in TCU Thursday night at Darrell K Royal Texas-Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns (8-2, 5-2 Big 12) are surging and have won four straight games. The Horned Frogs have dropped four of their last five.

Texas ended the rivalry with A&M last year on a positive note thanks to a last-second field goal to secure a 27-25 victory. The Longhorns and Aggies played each other 118 times dating to 1894 and players were sad to see the rivalry end.

"As I watch them this year, I miss it a lot," senior safety Kenny Vaccaro said. "I wish we could play them one more time." ....
